Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Architecturally, this place is a gem. On a hot day, we sat in the courtyard in the shade. The stores are still recovering from the CoVid impacts and scheduling challenges. Now is the time to shop small and support these brave business owners. Nice visit.

The place has so much... Good Restaurants, Great Shops and Specialty Store. Dallmann's Fine Chocolates is a must to go to. Their Chocolate are amazing. One if the best I've ever had. Along with lots of other place to check out. A great night out...

While sightseeing with a local friend, we arrived here specifically to see the old jail cells, it was fun. I got a real kick out of the reasons people were arrested, especially the women offenders. The whole shopping and dining area is really nice, I love the historical architectural style. Definitely worth the visit.

They have a genuine jail house here with a wall of booking photos and a few of the cells are actually open so kids can walk around them: great photo opportunity. It's clearly marked: right opposite the Puesto Mexican restaurant

Check if your visit coincides with a Salsa night in the courtyard at the Seaport Headquarters: scores of locals and tourists, bouncing or gliding, depending on their proficiency, to the music of a terrific live 7 piece band. Great atmosphere.

We were surprised that this former police headquarters features not only restaurants, clothing shops, a toy store, a chocolate shop,
and an art gallery, but also retains a small museum revealing its past. Follow the restroom sign and discover along the hallway photos of the old jail being built and operated. Be sure to go into the room containing several small jail cells. Go into the one that is open and imagine being a prisoner in the claustrophobic space with its tiny toilet and sink. Also check out the display of mug shots from the 1940s on the wall. The offenses are listed under each photo. Treat yourself to thick, creamy gelato from Gelato Paradiso and relax on the comfortable seats in the courtyard.

Interesting shops and good restaurants. Creative use of the old police headquarters. Good cheese shop. Classic toy store. Two good clothing and accessory stores for women. Other retail space seems to keep changing. Not as crowded as Seaport Village. Unless eating a meal there, I would add this to a Seaport Village trip. Be sure to walk through the small, free San Diego Police museum and jail cells. Valet parking available and some 20 min to 2 hour meter parking on the street. Easy walk from Seaport Village lot.

My wife and I came across this place on our first day and re-visited it at least twice more during our week in San Diego.
It has some excellent little shops, including my favourite t-shirt store - Life is Good - and some good places to eat, but what is interesting is the display and information about what this place used to be - the Headquarters of the San Diego Police Dept.
It is well worth a visit if you're down in Seaport Village area.

Free and not really marketed. It is small but a simple awesome thing to check out in San Diego. It is an original jail from way back and you can see the mug shots from. The past.
