This is definitely a must do hike in San Diego. The views are simply amazing. I would say medium level difficulty. It took us ~60 minutes to get to the summit and ~45 minutes to get back to our car, with dogs. We took the...More

Started on the back side as other reviewers had suggested, taking Big Rock trail up from a public park. It started ok, passing an old burned area and climbing above a neighborhood, and about 1/2 way up we hit a service road that was very...More

Park at Big Rock park in Santee and hike up the back. Steep, longer, but less crowded. Lots of stairs and rocks at the start, but a really beautiful hike:)

Very good hike for how close it is to San Diego. Hiked it on Saturday morning. Showed up at the trail head for 0900. Parking lot packed and hundreds of people on various parts of the trail. Declined this so drove around to the backside...More

I will start off by saying I didn't get to the top. My wife's heart just wasn't in it. And it was probably a good thing, because coming back down all the way from the top would have been a bit of a problem for...More

I was encouraged to do this with my younger 20 something hiking mates. Although I thought I would give up only half way up, I did it, although I did stop a lot along the way. Well, what do you expect from a somewhat out...More
