A visit to the Old Town Model Railroad Depot will take you back in time to the 1950's where you will see trains from that era travel over a 2500 sq ft layout featuring a city at night with over 100 buildings with lights and flashing neon signs. Continuing on your journey you will pass a large farm, country town, beautiful mountain range, a large lake and dam with trestles traversing over a large gorge. Visitors may even try their hand at being the engineer on this remote controlled exhibit. We are open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday Friday 11:00 to 6:00, Saturday 11:00 to 7:00 and Sunday from 11:00 to 6:00. Closed on Tuesdays. Our new Gift Shop will be open on February 1, 2015 and offer a wide range of Railroad items for sale.

When we first enetered the museum, we did not realize how big this place is. It's extremely big for a Model Railroad Depot. You will see many different sizes of villages with railroads, each done with a specific size to follow. Really amazing museum to...More

Very cool place. All ages will find it neat. Lots of work has went into this display. Very kid friendly. Staff working were extremely nice. It is free but a donation box at the door.

We visited the Old Town Model Railroad Depot while walking through the Old Town. It is free but you can make a contribution as you leave. The trains, the buildings, the scenery, etc., is quite amazing. It is worth your time to visit.

My husband loves train so this was a must while we were in Old Town. They have done a fabulous job with this place. The detail is spectacular. The owner was so friendly and knowledgeable and wonderful with the kids.

This is one of my fav things to do in San Diego. Just listening to the old ( and new) timers talk about their trains and experiences is well worth the admission price. The craftsmanship and artistry that the collectors share is unbelievable. Definitely a...More
