Baja Test Kitchen meets you at the border (on the U.S. side) and this is the BEST option for any tour to Baja/Mexico from the U.S. Why? At the end of the day, we will drop you off directly in front of the pedestrian border crossing facility, where it only takes a few minutes to cross back into the U.S. from Mexico - it's super easy and fast. You may think it's better to cross by car, and other tour operators may tell you this too, and here's why they'd be wrong: the northbound border wait for vehicles is typically 2-5 hours long, and can be longer on weekends and during peak holiday seasons like summer and over spring break ("Semana Santa" in Mexico). Even with a "fast pass," it can take 2+ hours of waiting in a car to cross, which is a real buzzkill after an awesome day spent in Mexico. This is why BTK utilizes the newly built pedestrian crossing facility for it's tours. Processing times at this new pedestrian-only-border-crossing-facility are usually less than 10-minutes, and many times shorter. So instead of sitting in line for hours on end, stuck in a hot tour van with no access to bathrooms, you're back in San Diego enjoying your evening. Unfortunately, we've also come to learn that many, if not most of the companies offering cross-border tours are not licensed to do so, nor do they carry commercial-grade Insurance that covers paying customers, leaving you and your family/friends exposed in the case of an accident. This may not sound important, until it is. At BTK, we sleep better knowing that our customers are properly cared for.
