Canyon De Chelly Tours is an enterprise of Leon Skyhorse Thomas. Every guide is a professional, certified by the National Park Service by examination. In addition to tours of the Canyon de Chelly National Monument, cultural consulting needs are addressed on a case by case basis for those who seek a more intimate insight onto the Navajo Way. Leon has assisted film-makers on location in Navajoland and is used to delivering high quality services to the people and organizations he serves. There are over 2700 archaeological sites within the many canyons of Canyon de Chelly National Monument. Only 13 of the 700 standing ruins have been stabilized, re-inforced, or protected from degradation. We are professional Navajo guides who can teach you the history of our canyons and about the Anasazi, Hopi and Navajo peoples. We pride ourselves in offering you more than just viewing our scenery - but we can do this too!

A friend of my sister recommended we make this stop on our drive to the Grand Canyon. We were able to do it because the Holiday Inn let us plug in the Tesla while we toured the Canyon and slept. It gave us enough energy to make it to our next stop. Zar was our driver for this jeep (... More

Our tour of Canyon de Chelly with our guide, Harris Hardy, was one of the highlights of our two week trip through The Southwest. Harris grew up and still lives in the canyon, and has an intimate knowledge of its history. Not only that, he loves explaining his culture, traditions, and the geology of the area. Plus, he has a... It had been raining for 24 hours before our morning tour and we weren't sure if it would still be possible. The river in the canyon was flowing and needed to be forded several times as we travelled deeper into the canyon. The Navajo guide was a skilled driver and very knowledgeable as he had grown up in the canyon... More

We went on a three hour tour with a great Navajo guide. He answered all of our questions and made a rainy day a great advantage. We were able to see spontaneous water falls come down. We got to know something about the people who live and farm there. The guide told us about going there in the summer to... More

Excellent! Henry knew all the stories of the Canyon, the Anasazi, the Navajos, and the geology. He stayed with us at all the stops to make sure we saw the important sites ( we saw other tours just dropping people off). Henry was cordial and shared just enough of his own story to help the Canyon 'come alive'. It's was... More

On our trip from Chicago to Tucson, we decided to tour Canyon de Chelly. We saw that Canyon de Chelly Tours was rated highly on trip advisor, so we booked a private tour for three hours. We were fortunate that Henry was assigned to be our guide. We cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had! Henry was knowledgeable... More

We booked a 1 pm 3 hour tour by phone and arrived at 12:30 to sign up. Unfortunately we didn't have a guide or a vehicle until 1:45 when they arranged an old Jeep with Henry. Thats when things got better ! Henry was wonderful ! His knowledge of the history, geology, biology, and the culture of the people that... More

I don't know how I had never heard of Canyon de Chelly but I visited as a fluke in March and I'll never forget the majesty of this place. Henry was our jeep guide and he was wonderful. He was thorough, funny, and generous sharing his Diné (Navajo) culture. I learned so much. The three hours flew by and I... More

Canyon de Chelly is an incredible natural wonder and is best seen from the canyon floor. Our wonderful guide, Reginald Ettsity, made it all the more interesting by pointing out many archaeological sites along the way. He also told many interesting stories of the Navajo people who have inhabited this land for hundreds of years. First rate experience!
