Neighbourhood: Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.

My wife and I stopped at this church while walking to Chinatown. This is a beautiful and serene place to pray. Do not pass it up if you are in the area.

Our Lady of Guadalupe church is wonderful. I'm a local New Yorker so I have the inside story, unlike the superficial and petty review commenting only on the decor. I belong to this church and the latin american community there is really incredible. The Spanish mass is always packed and they always have tents outside with authentic street food. I know there are many times that i have seen processions or special masses for our lady of guadalupe where a line stretches around the block to 8th avenue and 14th street at midnight just to get in. Its really pure devotion and a cultural experience. Father Rubio is the pastor and he is absolutely wonderful. My husband converted to catholicism and we wanted to get married in Spain in the church where my parents wed. He and his staff helped greatly and drew up papers for the Spanish church. I cannot say enough how kind he is. I have been going to this church for 20 years it is authentic and wonderful. I highly recommend it. Spanish mass is Sunday at 12:30pm

There is no question that I would not venerate the Holy Mother of Christ. And I am with the miracle of our lady of Guadeloupe! But this church with her strange puppet colors and interior decorations makes is almost impossible to pray... and not to laugh...i could have given this church 5 stars for curiosity... but i love my church... and this one is a nightmare!
