A pity that you can't visit.

One of the most beautiful skyscrapers in the city. Walk the streets of Manhattan looking up! A pity that you can't visit.

Another great Art Deco building. Inside is not especially open to tourist but what you see stunning example of art deco at it's best

My favourite building but not open to the public. Can be seen from so many different parts of NYC. Very pretty at night when it's lit up.

This building comes into its own at night, it has to be one of the prettiest in NYC and a great place to see it is up the Empire state building.

Amazing that the public are allowed into this building as it is a place of work. Really worth taking a trip to admire the well preserved architecture and fittings, if you are in the vicinity. It is like being on a film set.

You can just walk into the lobby of the Chrysler Building to see the wonderful Art Deco. The whole lobby is stunning, with beautiful light fittings, panelling on the walls and the ceiling, and even inside the lifts. The rest of the building is just a normal office building, not accessible to the public.

Just went into the foyer and it is art deco and beautiful, like so much of New York. I am glad I saw it.

Only the lobby area is open to the public but it is well worth a visit to see some of the most amazing Art Deco design and craftsmanship in the world. 80 years on it is still absolutely stunning. If only all buildings had this much character.

You can only visit the lobby but it is worth a quick look if you are nearby. The style and attention to detail is very interesting

I always wanted to go to the top. Unfortunately it was closed in 1945. Looks like I was 71 years late. A quick walk through the ground floor revealed how splendid it's Art Deco décor is.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
