When I visit NYC I have a few shops I look forward to visiting. Uniqulee was one of those stops and it is close to Wing on Woo which is an amazing shop with a social conscience. Uniqulee has curated some charming overpriced pieces. Not difficult to find elsewhere but the shop is cute. Understand they want to control how and what you see. It's a confusing way to shop add to that the rudeness of the owner. I was happy to be there and somehow this woman was able to grab my joy with her sour mean rudeness. I was a returning customer. No need to give up precious holiday time or money for this experience. Do go down a few doors to Wing on Woo and the tea shop next to Crabby /Uniqulee is also very nice.

I love the unique items they have at this store and I get that being vintage, they are old and not in perfect condition. My 2 star rating is more because of their customer service not the merchandise. A few months ago I bought three (3) vintage purses and some other stuff. I spent quite a bit of money. I LOVE the purses and know they are vintage. The second time I used the crocodile purse, the leather on the handle just tore off. It's very old so I get it, it happens. I wanted to ask the store owner Lee who is a curator and expert on these type of items if she could repair it or do something. I didn't want to just put super glue and ruin it. I went to the store and Lee was not there, just a young guy. I explained to him I bought this purse months ago and wanted to see if they could do something. Immediately before I said anything else with a tone of defensiveness and rudeness he said that if it was months ago there was nothing he could do. I told him I wasn't asking for a refund and to let me at least explain what I was asking for. Then he said they couldn't do anything. Not even giving me advice on what to do, how to fix it. I was surprised because someone who is a curator and expert with vintage materials would probably know how to repair this things and at least give me some guidance. I said this and his next comment was just priceless. "We can't just snap our fingers and have it fixed for you." He should not talk to customers at all. After asking him why he was being so rude he said I could replace the handle. More stupid and dumb answers. I made a big effort to contact the owner Lee. I wrote twice on their website asking to contact me. Nothing. I called the store and guess who picked up? The same guy, he said she wasn't there and didn't take my information of course. Poor service is many times the main reason why a customer will not go back to that business.
