Shopping

You could spend hours walking up and down fifth ave just window shopping and then duck into Barnes & Noble for a coffee and a relaxing book search, plenty of room to move around.

Well worth the long walk down Fifth Avenue from a sifht-seeing perspective; a huge number of famous brand shops from Tiffanys downwards, as well as Trump Towers and a number of churches and more historic buildings.

We walked along 5th Ave a few times mainly to get from one end to the other. We passed Trump Towers & Rockerfellas. Saw lots of shops but didn't think much to it.

Lots of shopping, Deli stores and atmosphere - this is busy vibrant NY and well worth a walk down even if you don't want to shop - it's just so iconic.

I am a huge shopping fan and this was the place for me. A long strip of retail therapy. I loved it here, and could spend hours going in and out of the shops. A must do/see even if your a window shopper.

I love to shop so fifth avenue gets two thumbs up in my book. It is high end and whilst I cannot afford every shop it is nice watching others come out of stores with their luxury goods bags and big smiles.

We went into the area just to see the sights. We did go into Tiffany's but other than that we just window shopped. If you go, make sure to bring $$$....this is not for the average joe.

A sunny day, so not much wind let you see how the locals will be running in short sleeve (3rd week of February) where you're still dressed with wintery clothers! Any kind of shop is present, worth the walk!

As the premier shopping street, I think other cities have done better. I also think that the Christmas decoration was poor, relying on a handful of shops to do the work. I would expect at least a more festive feel on this street if nowhere else. That said, well done Saks for a spectatular the Christams light show and for... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
