Neighbourhood: Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

The building is very grand and in keeping with the style when radio was king. I particularly love the ventilation grates on the side of the building with stylised patterns.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 2 December 2023

Everything was wonderful and keeping the birth of Christ in the performance was so inspiring. Thank you. - dustythoughtsManchester, Connecticut2,128 contributionsGlorious, historical performance spaceThis NYC theatre is situated in the heart of the entertainment neighborhood and is the home of world-famous performances such as the Rockettes. It's gorgeously decorated - you can really feel the history of previous and ongoing shows that've performed on this storied stage. The space is humongous; it looked like it could seat thousands of people. We came here to see the Rockettes and could've just enjoyed wandering through the building. I'll add that getting through security here was a bit stressful, as the security guards were extra vigilant and kept barking orders at everyone. (I understand the necessity of herding thousands of people through the lines, but it felt like airport security.)Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 December 2023
- Greg PColumbus, Ohio196 contributionsThe Rockettes are amazing! We have seen the Rockettes two years in a row. While the show was the same, so was the entertainment. We thoroughly enjoyed the performance. It just brings a smile to my 17-year old daughter’s face. She loves dance and this show brings it all. It certainly hits the Christmas theme all out. While the amount of people circling to get into the building for each performance can seem daunting, we arrived about 30 minutes early and got in with plenty of time. In fact, we were some of the first to our seats. (There are lots of concessions/souvenir stands and the theatre itself is quite stunning.).Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 December 2023

My mom and I attended the Radio City Christmas Spectacular with a tour group the second weekend of December. What a show! I have always loved the Rockettes and seeing them in their theater at Christmas brought tears to my eyes many times during the performance. We had excellent seats on the first row center of the first mezzanine and I loved every minute. The theater is simply gorgeous. Great souvenirs in ornaments, t-shirts, etc. This was my favorite thing we did in New York and so thankful I got to go!Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 6 January 2024

Have been to NY many times but had never been inside Radio City so decided to do the tour with My daughter
Wowww was so lucky we were the only people on the tour so was like a private one - was amazed about the history and decor of the building and so glad it was given listed building status as would have been a crime to knock it down
Definitely worth an hour or so of your time to see the inside and get the history of the building

If you love the dance sequences in the old black and white films, you love this. Over thirty dancers gave a flawless performance with a range of dance sequences.

We were a bit naive approaching RCMH. Had not planned to see the show, we were just walking by on Sunday, December 24, 2023, and said to each other, what the heck, let's check it out. So we went to the ticket booth about 2PM and had to wait only 10 minutes in line. Then we were told 2 tickets available for $99 each at the 8PM show. They were really great seats, right down front about 10 rows back. The show was absolutely amazing, free 3D glasses for the portion of the show in 3-D, flying fairy like drones over our heads, confetti from the ceiling and other special effects. The Rockettes did about 15 costume changes for different roles through out the show, and dancing, dancing and more dancing and singing. The only annoying part was a lady in front of us that was filming the whole show on her phone. They explicitly said "no photos or videos during the show". An employee was going around stopping people from doing this, but the lady in front of us was sneaky and got away with it. She was selfish and distracting. After the show we admired the beautiful building inside while looking for the restrooms, hard to find. Finally found them, but the lines were super long, with women forming most of the lines to both the women's and the men's restrooms.. that's right women were using the men's too! The problem was, that the women were blocking access to the men's urinals which were mostly unused. Then there was a employee walking around yelling at people to get out of the building. We loved the show and building except for two rude people.

I don’t know about the availability of booster seats but I’ve been to many plays and have never seen a child in a booster seat so I would venture to say I doubt they provide it. Call the theater to confirm.

I am attending the Christmas Spectacular show in December and I would also like to go ice skating at nearby Rockefeller Center using my own skates. Radio City Music Hall does not offer bag check service and I am concerned about security denying me entry due to my ice skates in a bag. Does anyone here on Trip Advisor have experience with bringing ice skates inside the Radio City Music Hall venue? I reached out to Guest Relations at Radio City 5 days ago and nobody is responding to my inquiry about whether or not I would be allowed to bring my ice skates in a zipped bag inside of the venue.

As far as seating goes, which of the following would you recommend when seeing the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular: Orchestra 4 Row B, Orchestra 3 Row UU, or 1st Mezzanine 5 Row D? Having a very hard time deciding which perspective would give the best overall experience for the show. Thanks!!

In view of the covid19 virus, directives to avoid crowds, & closures of many mass gathering events, are Radio City shows going on as scheduled? I have tickets for Saturday show & I'm very concerned.

If it were me, I would call the venue and check on the latest advice, as this situation is continually changing ( eg your theatres are closed in New York but in the UK ours are still open for business). It is confusing so the only way to get the correct information is to phone the venue itself.
