Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We took a cruise and had the opportunity to sail down New York Harbor. So many sights. From the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, Statue of Liberty, Verrazano Bridge, etc. Looking at these sights never gets old. I ❤ NY!

Any trip to New York should include a river trip as it is the best way to see the Manhattan skyline, Brooklyn Bridge, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty all in one go. We left from pier 16 by the tall ships and gymnasts, not far from Wall St.

We, a party of 4, booked our dine & cruise with World Yacht from pier 81, on our last night in NYC prior to going up to New England & Canada the next day on NCL Gem.
We had booked the Gold package with a guarenteed window table, but the view of NYC at dusk was magical and ave us another view of the city, having been up both the Empire State & Rockerfeller buildings. The food on board was of the highest quality & our waitress for the night was really good fun.
Sailing down the Hudson at night is really special and seeing the Statue of Liberty was relly spectacular, the floodlights showing off her best features, and going under the Brooklyn bridge was really cool.
All in all a perfect finish to a great 4 days in NYC.

I strongly recommend a boat tour of the harbor. It will be a totally different way to see the city and region, to get a sense of the geography. There are also some lovely walks along the harbor, The waterfront has always been an important part of the city.

People think of either the NYC Skyline or The Statue of Liberty when they consider New York Harbor. However, there is so much more. Depending upon where you choose to view the harbor from: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Governor's Island, Liberty Island, Ellis Island or New Jersey; you will see and experience it in a different way. Another way to experience it is from the Staten Island Ferry. Enjoy it at Sunrise, Sunset, Twilight or at Night. Each has it own ambiance and romance. Do your research and experience it as many ways as possible. I have lived close all of my life and still enjoy taking photos from different perspectives at different times of day or under different weather conditions. Experience it and enjoy it!

I happened upon a guy selling boat tour tickets, and I wish I could remember the name of the company but I can't. Anyway, the harbour and East River are a beautiful place to see. It's so calm and peaceful (and not humid!) out on the water, but you also get great views of the financial district, the various buildings, the statue of liberty and the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. Being down low gives a great sense of the sheer scale of the place. Leaving from battery point or thereabouts gives a great opportunity to look back towards uptown and see the huge distinction between the older architecture uptown and the sleek, modern architecture of the financial district. The history and old world charm right next to the super-modern fast-paced present is one of the things I love about NYC.
Going under the Brookyln Bridge is also delightful.

Get out on the water with a "hop on-hop off" water taxi to points in Brooklyn and back. Or do the Staten Island ferry for a very low-budget trip. This part of Staten Island shows no Sandy storm damage.

What is a better place than to look out over New York harbour and see the surrounding burrows and a view across to the Statue of Liberty. Do it at sunset for a great view with the light a brilliant orange.
