I've been to the Apollo to see Amateur Night a few times but this visit was for the Fifth Annual Africa Now featuring bands from Mali, Mauritania, and South Africa. Great music and people dancing in the aisles.

My wife and I recently visited The world Famous Apollo Theatre, in the Harlem Section of New York, for Amateur Night. It was sold out on this particular night. There were people there of all races, just having a good time, the show is about 2 1/2 hours long and they keep the music pumping for 2 1/2 hours. We... More

If you get the chance to catch Amateur Night at the Apollo, DO IT! Just the opportunity to visit this historic theater and imagine all the acts that have been on that stage...Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Gladys Knight, Anita Baker!!! Watching Amateur Night on TV is great but in person there's nothing like it. If you're able to get a... More

I was only in town for a few days but wish I could have seen Amateur night at the Apollo. Either way I decided to make my way up to Harlem and grab some soul food and check out the Apollo. Had a great time with my fiance. We didn't book online, we just showed up to the box office (I called first to see if they were sold out) and bought same day tickets for $18 each and they happened to be orchestra seats. Our seats were great (well someone was a little intoxicated next to us, but besides that... More

The show is foot stomping, clapping, dancing in the aisles stuff. It's well paced - the DJ warmed up the crowd with great music, the Apollo band were really good, the comedian who hosts the show is funny... More
