A private park (oldest in USA) for tenants living in the surrounding buildings. Nice area but park is only possible to see from outside.

You need a key to enter the park which is a privilege to those who live around. The park. Beautifully maintained and a picture perfect piece of heaven. Locals play and sit in the park and an occasional wedding is held for the well connected. Love the ferocity by of this place surrounded with large buildings. Great to visit and... More

only private park in Manhattan, very picturesque. Only accessible to residents in the surrounding neighborhood AND Grammercy Park Hotel guests, that's how we got in. just let yourself lock in and enjoy the private atmosphere in the heart of the City.

A lovely piece of paradise in the middle of Manhattan. This is a private park and only accessible to residents living in the surrounding neighborhood. However the residents open it up on Christmas Eve for carol singing. This creates a great atmosphere and festive joy for people of ages, cultures and religion to come to together and celebrate.

My family and I came to the elusive and private Gramercy Park on Christmas Eve to hear caroling; the only time us non-key holders can get into the park. When my family and I got there at 5:30PM, there was already a line to get in. The gates were opened at 6PM. We could hear the carolers practicing and warming... More

Gramercy Park itself is a small, private, gated park at Lexington Avenue and 21st Street. Only residents surrounding the small park have keys, though guests at the adjacent Gramercy Park Hotel also have guest access during their stay. It is a lovely, old-fashioned type pf park, in the style of an early-20th century English park: quaint, picturesque and beautiful.

Best seen from the inside if you are a local resident or hotel (Gramercy Park) and access to a key, but even from the fence looking inwards, it is a wonderful park, so beautiful and well maintained.

Fantastic place to sit and contemplate life or just take a breather from a hectic day. Gorgeous, quiet, uncrowded . . . peaceful.

What's nice is that there is limited access. The only park I know of in NYC that is private. If you want to sit out doors and have the NYC version of peace and quiet, this is where you could get it. The grounds are nice but average. This place is more about the novelty of being in a private... More

We had a friend who very graciously invited us to visit the park. It is absolutely beautiful. No wonder the keys are so coveted. Wish we would have had a a few hours to just sit and mediate. Another unique corner that makes NYC such an amazing place.
