I first became familiar with this type of shop after visiting Paxton Gate in SF. Very cool spot for taxidermy and some other oddities. Even if you aren't buying anything it's cool to come in and look. Come see a stuffed two headed calf...NO CHARGE! - Ryan MacNamara, Stamford CT

Apparently the store has moved recently and the pictures travelers have posted are from the old location. This location is seems to be like something you would find in a mall. It's much smaller than I expected, and I'm not sure how prices are determined on items that they carry, but most are pretty high and curious if they sell... More

This store had some interesting items but nothing I haven't seen before. It was smaller than expected and overpriced. However, I still enjoyed my visit as I love to look.

I was extremely excited about coming here because I'm a big anatomy nerd and this kind of store doesn't exist where I'm from. The store itself was really incredible. I walked (a long walk) from my apartment in Midtown, through the different neighbourhoods and got a nice look through the city and it's different boroughs. The store has a million... More

Like a trip to a museum! The store is on the smaller side but full of bones and taxidermy creatures. The employees really know their stuff too - so feel free to ask them questions!

I returned to the Evolution Store in Aug 2015, specifically because I was a big fan on my family's first trip. Sadly, this time I found the inventory lacking and the staff completely aloof. What a disppointment. I no longer can recommend it.

I bought my sons birthday and Christmas presents here for the first 12 years of his life. He was in to fossils, Dino's , everything this store had to offer. He has a full "treasure box" filled with the treasures from here! Absolutely stop by to see all the cool stuff!

I first went to the Evolution Store a few years ago when it was a small corner in Toys R Us, and fell in love. I just recently got to visit their new location in SoHo, and it's even more amazing. If you like oddities, science, or natural history collectables then this is the place to go! It's very much... More

Interesting place, lots to look at. They have a full range of fossils, minerals, and crystals for sale, posters of all sorts, and preserved specimens from across the insect realm, as well as jewelry, animal skins, and many other odds and ends. They're also one of the few places with a permit to sell real human skeletons. Best to visit... More

This is a really interesting little shop that we came across quite by chance . It is filled with weird and wonderful items for sale, particularly fossils, bones and teeth. There are gifts related to astronomy, geology, archeology.....Indiana Jones would be in his element here ! The goods are displayed over two levels, with quite steep stairs up to the... More

Staying in SoHo

Neighbourhood Profile
SoHo
Once the artistic hub of New York City, SoHo (South of Houston) is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway teems with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore by foot. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district –majestic cast-iron architecture everywhere you look. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city. The pretty streets of Nolita (North of Little Italy) offer a more sedate vibe, with plenty of tiny boutiques and hip restaurants to seek out.
