This ferry is perfect for that skyline pic of manhatten. You can also get a good shot of the statue of Liberty. This ferry is free and takes about 20 minutes

Ok. If you want a 'free' river your definitely do this. Views of the city, Statue of Liberty, and Ellis island are great. Went around sunset and the views were beautiful. Seating wasn't too much of an issue- but for outdoors I'd recommend the warmer months for this activity. Biggest annoyance was the turnaround. Most tour guides for this said... More

Statue of liberty was smaller than I expected but nice to see in real life. The views to New York were amazing! Ferry was huge, we took the trip on Sunday before 10 am and the ship was nearly empty. This is a must see in NY-experience and its free of charge!

I was advised to see the Statue of Liberty from the ferry as it is free. Great advice and I would recommend the ferry. It's efficient and runs every 20 to 30 minutes. There are a lot of tour operators outside touting for business who make out that the ferry has a 2 hour wait. We nearly fell for this... More

The cheapest thing you can do in NYC!!!! Great few of the skyline and to see the Statue of Liberty. Can't afford NOT to do this.

It is not only that the ferry is free, it is that you get the best view. Taking the ferry to the Statue takes too long and there is not much to see there. Everyone have to leave the boat once you get to Staten Island. I always run to go outside and come back in to get back in... More

Ideal and FREE way to see the statue of Liberty, could do with a good zoom lens for clear photos but perfect if you want to see the lady herself and runs 24 hours a day 365 days a year every half hour. Would not bother with the separate tours offering this attraction unless you want to go up the... More

The best part of the Staten Island Ferry is that it is free and provides excellent views. This is an excellent way to get very close to the Statue of Liberty for photos, and a great view of the Manhattan Skyline financial district. There is a huge shopping mall area under construction at this time at the ferry dock area... More
