We stay in Chelsea each time we visit NYC. We enjoy walking the tree-lined streets in the neighborhood. It has a family feel unlike most areas in the city. It's much quieter and has plenty of shops and diners to also enjoy.

This area is very nice, with tons of shopping and restaurants. There's so much to see here, and it doesn't have all the crazy overcrowdedness of midtown/times square/tourist central. I definitely definitely recommend a day spent over in these western neighborhoods (Greenwich Village, West Village, Meatpacking District, Chelsea).

This area is becoming more and more popular especially with the high line park. Lots of caffees and restaurants, bars.

Chelsea has a lot going for it. There are so many places to dine around here and then there's the High Line.

Chelsea is a fun place to walk around if you are visiting NYC. It's not quite as quaint as the West Village, but there are many good restaurants and some stores.

A relaxed, clean and pleasant NY neighborhood. After visiting many touristy attractions ans areas I recommend walking through a less crowded traditional NY neighborhood, looking at the beautiful houses, enjoying the small independent stores. There are many restaurants, bars and cool cafes. Art lovers will love the various galleries in Chelsea.

A district with very lovely classic New York streets and houses. Even you may find the house of main character of sex and the city, Carrie Bradshaw.

Area to walk around in the end you find the Highline, we went there to a friends flat and went up to his Roof top and it was great to see all from above, Chelsea is a nice area in general so well worth going there

Nice neighborhood. You can visit High line, Chelsea Market, Madison Square Garden. There are nice landmarks and historial buildings on the 20th street, 21th street, 22th street, 8th avenue and all over the neighborhood.

We walked in this area and it had 2 sides like a coin. There were some roads, which looked kind of shabby but on the other hand we found lovely tiny streets.

Staying in Chelsea

Neighbourhood Profile
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighbourhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighbourhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighbourhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
