If you can't find it here, it probably hasn't been produced in many years. If every conceivable type of current candy isn't enough of an incentive to visit, they stock hundreds of old favorites as well as EVERY type of Pez dispenser (well, almost-there are hundreds here), color of M&M, type of sixlet and flavor of jelly belly jelly bean... This place is heaven, all the candy in the world, I came here and found this place to be absolutely lovely, it's small one the out side but very spacious in the inside, I have never seen a candy store like this in my life

Read a review about this store-they weren't exaggerating-this place has more candy stuffed inside it's walls than you can imagine. The walk to get there was part of the charm-as a tourist, I loved walking through this part of NYC-it was a colorful stroll through a unique area. Once there, the candy options can be a little overwhelming. I had... More

We ventured downtown on the subway to Delancy Street then a short walk to Economy Candy.. loved walking through the real New York and seeing streets that are more like the urban areas of the UK.. back to the shop - unbelievable .. we went on a Sunday morning and it was quiet.. had a chat with the owner who... This store is a little off of the beaten path, but just follow Google maps and find your way to this little store stuffed with candy from your childhood. I almost expected to hear Gene Wilder singing "Pure Imagination" as I worked my way through the aisles of candy I had long ago loved and have missed. Go and find... More

This was recommended to me by the TA NYC forum when I asked where I could buy candy corn. It was definitely one of my highlights, it is just out of this world. Don't even think twice jump on a subway and GO!!!!!

We visited New York in October to get married and of course just see what there is to see! All the shops around Manhattan are 7-elevens and pharmacy type shops with really expensive candy. After much frantic googling - I found Economy Candy and the bus I needed to get it! It's in a really scummy part of town but... More

This is a great old time candy store with an unbeatable candy selection. They have my favorite candy and also a ton of candy I have not seen since I was a child. Their prices are great and with the unbeatable selection it makes for a great stop for a nostalgic sugar fix. The family that owns the store is... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
