"One of the TOP 10 rooftop bars in the world." - Premier Traveler Magazine Top of the Strand, set like a jewel on the 21st floor of The Strand Hotel, is Midtown Manhattan's most spectacular urban oasis. A retractable glass roof over the intimate rooftop lounge designed by Lydia Marks shows off the New York skyline year round. With its friendly atmosphere, dazzling views, well-made drinks and tasty light fare, Top of the Strand is New York City's favorite rooftop bar.

Great bar with wonderful views

Small but definitely worth a visit. Very friendly staff, and great views. Cocktails are expensive but worth it. Will go back.

The best thing about this bar is the view of the Empire State Building. Unfortunately, the night we visited, there was a couple making out and there was no way to avoid looking at them while looking at the ESB. Management should have asked them to leave. Planned to have drinks and appetizers but informed no food on weekends because... More

Large TV for sports, bar top seats with low couches in lounge area. Not a lot of room. The Strand is now a Marriott FYI. Drinks were average - not a large cocktail menu but servers very nice and accommodating. Only food was chips or peanuts.

This is a fun spot for a drink. The glass roof retracts when the weather is nice. It was rainy when we were there, but cozy and warm inside.

Wanting to visit a rooftop bar in NYC, my husband and I decided to visit Top of the Strand after seeing pictures of the views. There was no wait when we arrived and the view did not disappoint, but it's a much smaller space than we expected. The drinks were good if you could make it up to the small... More

The place has nothing special, there is no view, and it is very small. You will not find a place to sit, and it is not the kind of place to drink while standing up. It is also very expensive. I would not go again.

Listed as one of the things to do in New York, my wife and I were thoroughly disappointed. First of all, the hotel itself is nothing special. Situated in the middle of a side street, it would not have caught one's eye. We were told by the security man at the door that the bar was only opening to the... More

We had looked at reviews on the best roof top bars in NYC and this one was highly rated. Part of the Marriott hotel if you take the elevator to the top, you will find the most incredible roof top bar. Seating is limited, but we eventually found a comfortable seat. A small bar operates at one end and the... More

View is very nice but the bar is serving can bottle at 9$... And only 4 cocktails... Not at the level of this kind of roof!!!

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
