great tour guides for our hop on, hop off bus tour

We did the downtown, uptown and night bus tour. It was a cold day so we couldn't be on top. But in the morning Steve did a super job with lots of history and information, going up... read more

We booked the bus and cruise tour through Groupon it was a great deal. Just a heads up the cruise only goes once and that's at 3 p.m. . The bus tour was worth the money, even though I'm not a big fan of New York City as it is. The bus tour was ran by a guy named Julian... More

These tours are heavily touted and yes we were caught. Bought a 48hr pass which had the date manually changed as we needed it for the following day. Wanted to do the Uptown tour and waited over an hour for a bus! Asked the supervisor who just shrugged his shoulders and said it was on its way. Hop on hop... More

My son and I took my husband on this bus tour for his first visit to NYC. It was cheaper than the other tour bus company (red buses), but I wish we had paid the higher price for the other tour. The tour was narrated by a live tour guide, but the guide was so-so - he missed a number... More

We (3 of us) purchased 3 day tickets for this tour bus after having been assured we could hop on and off at most major attractions. NOT SO. The stops were few and far between, the buses ran sporadically and the bus stops seemed to be unmarked. As an example, we tried unsuccessfully to flag down a green bus outside... More

We did the downtown, uptown and night bus tour. It was a cold day so we couldn't be on top. But in the morning Steve did a super job with lots of history and information, going up and down the stairs to talk to everyone. He also gave us a street map and suggested non-touristy places for lunch. In the... More

I booked and paid for a walking tour of Central Park with Go Green. The first appointment was cancelled by them the morning of the confirmed date understandably because the guide was sick. No problem, we rebooted the following week, were confirmed, and drove into the city to meet our guide at the Red Grill Restaurant. After waiting an hour,... More

We traveled to New York specifically to take this tour and got a hotel overnight. There was some rain in the early morning that was, according to the Doppler forecast, stopping before the time the tour was to begin. No guide showed at the meeting point. We were not contacted at all. Very unprofessional company.

The Central Park Conservancy, the non-profit organization that has made the park so beautiful - also sponsors the only "Official" Central Park walking tours. They are fantastic! Their guides are superbly trained and qualified by the Conservancy. They offer about a dozen different park tours that take you through various landscapes of Central Park. The tours cost only $15 US... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
