What Makes It Special
From its inception, Macy's Herald Square was a store unlike any other. Over the past 150 years, it has become a true New York City icon. Built in 1902, Macy's Herald Square was the first building to have the modern-day escalator, and it has continued to be a trendsetter. Today, "America's Largest Department Store" covers an entire city block with 11 levels of the latest fashions for you and your home. Macy's offers a full-service Visitor Center on the Mezzanine Level, plus restaurants throughout the store and exciting events almost every day.

Macy’s was disappointing. It was sale time when we visited & very much like a jumble sale with clothes everywhere & racks of tat that no one would buy let alone wear... Not very well laid out. It was like the U.K.’s version of Debenhams...More

Personally I am overwhelmed by Macy’s sheer size but we visit it every time we are here as my husband loves it - and he hates shopping! Just realised there is a historic tour of it and will add that to next visit’s itinerary. Love...More

This place is nine or ten stories of mostly clothing and covers a full square block I think. Men's seems to be on one side of every floor and ladies on the other. There is one floor with furniture and one with housewares but other...More
