From its inception, Macy's Herald Square was a store unlike any other. Over the past 150 years, it has become a true New York City icon. Built in 1902, Macy's Herald Square was the first building to have the modern-day escalator, and it has continued to be a trendsetter. Today, "America's Largest Department Store" covers an entire city block with 11 levels of the latest fashions for you and your home. Macy's offers a full-service Visitor Center on the Mezzanine Level, plus restaurants throughout the store and exciting events almost every day.

They did a really good job this year with their windows. They did "Yes Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus". I love shopping in this location because it is so large but this time of year it can be crowded.

Macy is a big shopping centre on 34th St, Manhattan. Starting Thanksgiving day, I ahve been going there at almost every 3 days gap. I find that one cannot shop enough in the entire 8 floor complex. It's so big. The staff is very good and the merchandise too is excellent

Let's start with the good... It's a shoppers heaven! International visitors should head to the visitor section for a discount card, the day we went it was an extra sale which gave us 30% off the prices, plus some of them were already discounted so we ended up with some items being 60% off! There is literally everything here for... More

This Macy's is not only the biggest department store I have been in but the most fun. It is 9 stories high with a Christmas department on the 9th floor that is just amazing. Got lots of very cute and different ornaments that were even on sale. Loved this store, just needed more time to do every level.

I love going to Macy's and especially this one. It's easy to find in the big Apple and love the Christmas window displays. The volume of clothes, shoes, kitchen ware etc are wonderful. You can always find something at Macy's. Check out each floor and check out the wooden escalator!!

Wow what a fab shop, you could spend hours looking round. Visitors get 10% of anything bought. The Christmas window display opened the day we visited and are fab. Lots of people there to see it. The Christmas floor was great, so many baubles and Christmas stuff spent ages looking round. Bought some lovely baubles which were reasonably priced. On... More

We were in NYC for a show and wanted to go see Santa at Macy's just once, since it's so hyped up. Express Passes seem to go on the weekends the moment they are offered, so if you want that option, check exactly 48 hours in advance of your visit. I did get an Express Pass, but it was at... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
