Greg & Kat Conservatory Garden Experience.
Aug 2020 • Couples
The Conservatory Garden, located in Central Garden is undoubtedly a beautiful and peaceful oasis in the heart of a bustling metropolis.
Both my wife and I consider the garden among our top ten attraction to visit in Manhattan, NY. Our personal favorite items in the garden are the “Untermyer Fountain”, which was donated by the family of Samuel Untermeyer, a prominent 20th Century attorney, and the “Three Dancing Maidens” designed by Walter Schott, a German sculptor.
The Conservatory Garden is a great place to have engagement or wedding photos or a great place to visit and sightsee alongside family and loved ones!!!

Pretty little park
Nov 2019 • Friends
It's funny that we've been to Central Park many times and we never noticed this little garden. The Conservatory Garden is so pretty and is a perfect place for having a break. We visited back in November and the colors were very nice. For more pictures, visit my Instagram (IG: kelledstyle) :-)

Beautiful gardens
May 2019
Three BEAUTIFUL gardens composes the landscapes: French, English, and Italian. European gardens are extremely beautiful landscaping and greenery. These Conservatory Gardens makes the perfect background for wedding photography and other professional photo shoots as I was planning on having my wedding to be photographed here. Note a permit is required with an exorbitant fee to use the grounds for photography.
Walter Schott's Three Dancing Maidens scupture is located in the French garden. Central Park Conservancy has a book published about "Places to Discover and Enjoy in Central Park."

A place to relax for 30 minutes
Oct 2019
What a great place to relax after say a visit to the Museum of the City of New York. It's a little oasis at the north east of Central Park. The gardeners have created a beautiful series of gardens with ponds, sculptures, plants, flowers and shrubs, clearly designed to provide colour all the year round. If I worked nearby I'd be taking my lunch to relax here.

Makes one forget the city madness!
May 2019
Such a quiet and peaceful place to relax. So many varieties of flowers and plants. Certainly a great place to retreat if the city gets to be too much.

Relax in the City
Aug 2019
The Garden is so beautiful especially the time of year (Aug) when we were there. Was not super hot and everybody was enjoying Central Park. Hard to believe that planners were smart enough to put a garden along with Central Park in the middle of tall skyscrapers & all the hustle of NYC. Take time out to relax and enjoy the park.

So many variations of color
Jun 2019 • Friends
In the middle of a city of tall buildings, exhaust, concrete and glass there is a beautiful garden of color. These flowers are just beautiful and vibrant. The colors are from all over the spectrum. There are nice paths to walk around and clean bathrooms too. Beautiful!

Breathtaking
Aug 2019
I’ve visited Central Park on quite a few occasions but never, until now, ventured as far north as the Conservatory Gardens. I was blown away by the beauty and tranquility of these gardens, which are free to enter and easy to stroll around. They are immaculately kept and the planting schemes are stunning. The day we went it was a perfect summers day and they were getting ready for two weddings. I wish I had visited this place sooner.

Are dogs allowed here?
Faye F

I have been in the Gardens many many times and I have never seen dogs there. I don’t know if that is coincidence or if that is a rule.
I would not bring the dog in there… People are in there for the peace and beauty. It would infringe upon peoples enjoyment of the gardens.

I want to visit the Conservatory Garden in New York with my family. Can you share any popular website, except govisitnyc, which I can go for detail information?

Agree with the above. Be aware that the Conservatory Garden is rather small and can be seen in less than an hour. If you wish for a longer excursion, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a true oasis of quiet beauty away from the din. The New York Botanic Garden (in the Bronx) is also very large, but it's farther away than the one in Brooklyn.

There are still flowers in bloom in the park. It may not be like the Spring or Summer but the Gardens run seasonally. So expect to see Fall flowers in the Garden beautifully laid out and well maintained. The volunteers who work here take a lot of pride in the way the Garden looks.

How long should I allow for the garden?
Justin W
Hasbrouck Heights, NJ2,195 contributions
Give yourself at least an hour and a half. While you are there don't miss the Museum of the City of New York and El Burrio Museum which are both across the street from the Garden. They both charge a small fee but are both worth visiting as well when in the area.

In what months, days, and at what times is the Conservatory Garden open? (Planning to visit the week of June 26th-July 1st)
Justin W
Hasbrouck Heights, NJ2,195 contributions
The garden is open seven days a week but the best time to go is in the early afternoon around 1:00pm-5:00pm. It is not the best to go after twilight. Also plan on visiting the Museum of the City of New York and El Barrio Museums across the street. Tu Casa Deli on 104th Street has delicious empanadas that make a quick snack. There is also the Harlem Meer at the north end of Central Park that you should see before the afternoon was over.

The tulip leaves are up in my garden now, but tulips bloom for over a month. Even if the tulips are done (which I doubt) the garden will be lovely. It will be a pleasant respite in a busy city, and a good place to start (or end) a trip to Museum Mile (Guggenheim, Met, etc.) Be sure to walk south through the park after the garden for a taste of New York at play.
