The songs of Bob Dylan have never been treated so poorly. The woman next to me was bringing a friend of hers to the theater for the first time and had to tell him this is what awful theatre is like and not to give up. There was barely any applause and no standing ovation. People left at intermission. The woman on the other side of me was nodding off. For a show about the depression it was depressing.

I saw Goodnight Oscar at the Belasco theater yesterday afternoon, August 2, 2023. It should have been clearly stated on the ticket that Mezzanine row A seat 111 was obstructed view. I purposely bought the ticket so there wouldn't be anyone blocking my view of the stage. No where on the ticket did it say that the rail literally blocks half of the stage. I was forced to strain to see the stage for the entire length of the show.

Just watched a show this evening and I have to say the place was boiling hot. They have so many people crammed into a tiny room with no AC on. It made watching the show practically unbearable. It would put me off booking another show if this is the standard temp.

This is a beautiful intimate theater that I would not hesitate to see another show in. The reason that they are getting 1 star, (I wish I could give them 0, but I can't), are the actions of one of their ushers.
I wear hearing aids and I was adjusting them at the beginning of the show. A female usher came over to me and yelled at me. Other theater goers were looking at me.This was embarrassing and uncalled for.
Its not easy being hearing impaired. Its bad enough without a someone yelling at you for wanting to hear something that you paid good money for. I wish this usher would stand in my shoes and have to wear hearing aids, if only for a day. I doubt that she would even last an hour wearing them.
The Belasco Theater and the Schubert Organization should be ashamed of themselves for the manner in which their employee conducted herself.

As to a previous complaint that was posted. We were excited to see Bryan Cranston. We had orchestra left Row M Seats 21 and 23 for the Dec 29 7pm show, No where on the tickets did it say "partial view" We were not "partially" viewed there was NO view of the control booth and when there was a scene with the actors right outside of the booth, they were not visible or even visible on the screens. Came to see a live performance not watch the play on a television screen.
It seems that half of the left orchestra did not have a view of the control booth. Really disappointed to spend $179 a ticket and only see half the show. Not in the theater business but the stage could have been designed better, maybe eliminate the on stage seating to the right. The bar codes on the tickets were 941608690603 and 949355591213

Paid about 160.00 for this seat. Obstructed view. Part of stage on left blocked from view. Also seat not raised enough so persons in front of me also blocked my view and lady behind me complained I was blocking her view. Ticket not marked obstructed view. This seat not worth $5.00 bucks.

Hello:
I'm sorry to hear that you've had this experience.
N23 on the orchestra level is a partial view location. Would you mind providing me with your Telecharge order number?
Best,
Brian

I went with my girlfriend to see Michael Moore. We had a moment on the mezzanine so I stopped to get us a couple of drinks. My eyes almost popped out of my head when he said $48 + tip!! I've lived in NYC for 20 years and am no stranger to over priced drinks, but $48 for 3/4 of a cup of house malbec and an absolute vodka/soda with no ice is daylight robbery. The show was great, but the stench of being completely ripped off beyond all reason tainted the night. I guess it explains why the bar was mostly empty.

We purchased the tickets for the "Twelfe night" performance in the last row (the only 2 seats together left in the middle) of the orchestra section.
First off all, we did not realize that there is no additional hallway between the last row and the doors outside. You can hear everything happening outside; every truck, every car honk, every person talking loudly outside.
In addition, the standing room is right behind the last row of orchestra center seating, so that people were bending over the railing right at the level of our heads, breathing and laughing very loudly into our ears.
During the intermission, we asked the manager to ask these people not to lean directly over the rail behind our seats. She said she would have security make sure this wouldn't be an issue during the second act. As the intermission was ending, we returned to our seats and stood slightly to discourage standing room guests from leaning right behind us. A man behind us asked us to sit down or he would kick us out of the theater. He told us that he was the head of security (whom the manager had asked to keep standing guests from standing right behind us)). We explained to him that we were the ones who asked the manager to keep people from leaning over our seats. He loudly and rudely ordered us to sit down again and threatened to have us removed from the theater as the second act was about to begin, causing the back 2 rows to turn around and look at us. The manager finally noticed this commotion and calmed him down. She also asked us to sit down, as we were about to leave and the second act was already in progress.
Even if the security guard thought that we were the ones he was asked to deal with, this was no way to talk to ANYBODY. We asked for help to begin with because we did not want to be rude.
We sat through the second act, embarrassed and angry, as the head of security leaned against the rail behind us, reminding us of what had just happened. At the end of the show, we told both the manager and head of security how disappointed we were at the security's actions towards us (which ironically, was worse than the mouth-breathing standing room guests from the first act) and that we wanted to contact Shubert Productions. The manager provided us with this information, but not once did the security guard offer an apology.
When we contacted Shubert Productions we reached the Head of Ushers, who didn't offer to transfer me to anyone else, and was just as unhelpful and unsympathetic, stating that since we sat through the whole production, there was nothing they could do and that they weren't going to change anything about how standing room guests are allowed to stand or insulating the back doors for noise.
Extremely disappointed. Will never ever buy a ticked for another show in this venue.

Choose a partial view seat for network on the right side and missed maybe 1 or 2 scenes... but if you’re on the far side you will miss a lot as there are columns that also obstruct. But Network is NOT worth the price... Bryan Cranston was amazing but the tickets are too expensive

Saw Network yesterday and we loved loved loved it! It’s two hours long and we were so in grossed that the time just slipped by. Cranston is a genius and I’m in love with Tony Goldwyn. So if you’re coming to New York soon, please include this play before it moves on. Network is as relevant now as it was in the seventies.

What is the leg room like in the mezzanine front row? In many theatres it’s a real problem for tall patrons.

Im interested in last row mezz. for Girl from North Country. Read that it's a small intimate theater with great sightlines. Is this true? TY
Written 10 January 2020
Yes, for an old Broadway theater. However, if you are at the end of the row in a corner, left or right, not as good. The best sight lines are front row center mezz, but they are often hard to get.

I'm a bit on the tall side and was wondering how much leg room there was between the seats, particularly in the balcony section.Planning on seeing Girl from the North Country -- saw it in London at the Old Vic, but didn't know until we got to our seats 5 minutes before curtain that there was virtually *no* leg room and my knees were just about in the shoulders of the person in front of me. (Fortunately they were able to help us out during intermission, but still.) I've had this experience at other theaters, about half were an issue and half weren't (though none nearly as bad as the Old Vic), so now I try to be mindful enough to find out before I buy the tickets. Thanks in advance.

Hello: This is an old theater. Expect a tight squeeze. Nevertheless, the best seats for legroom per reports are as follows:
Row A & N in Orchestra, Row A & K(few seats) in Mezzanine and Row A in the Balcony.

Hi, what section/row were your seats in? I'm thinking about getting center balcony seats in the back as opposed to closer seats on the side

We were in the front row in the centre of the balcony and had a terrific view

Hello
I'm going to NYC and I am thinking of seeing Blackbird at the Belasco Theatre.
I would like to get center orchestra tickets. Can somebody please tell me if 4th row center orchestra is too close - would I be able to see everything on will my view be partially obstructed?
I am particularly hoping to hear from those who have seen Blackbird at the Belasco, who could give me their impression on where they feel is best to sit.
Thank you!
Written 15 May 2016
You should be perfectly fine with that seats.
Written 15 May 2016
In the Belasco Theatre mezzanine, are there aisles next to the last seats in each row (e.g., seats 27 or 28), that is, are there 4 aisles in the mezzanine or just 2 center aisles?
