We really enjoyed this small museum. We were able to spend time really engaging with the exhibits without stressing about running out of time. The exhibits were thoughtful with excellent interpretation. And great location right at the bottom of Central Park! Gorgeous gift shop as well, worth coming in for gift shopping even if you're not visiting the exhibits.

Make sure you view what exhibitions are there before going to see if you are interested! Without going to the Taylor Swift floor, this Museum takes around an hour if you are invested in the exhibitions and take a close look. Shorter if you are blowing through. MAD's small space means that you don't have to hurry through each piece, and the curation of the exhibitions is very well done. I enjoyed this selection more than I have in some of the larger museums. If you like contemporary art that makes you think, you'll probably like what they have at MAD. I enjoyed that they had contemporary Native pieces on the 3rd floor.

convenient location in Columbus Circle. a little pricey for what you get ($18) but I had a pass. there were 3 open floors of galleries plus the lovely goblet display in the stairwell. gorgeous wood carvings in one section, and various other "crafts" showcasing them to actually be just as elevated as "art". exploring what is the difference anyway... ? puppetry, performance art, sculpture, quits, and more gave the visitor plenty to see and enjoy. installations rotate so check what's on! ps - I didn't go the Taylor Swift floor but you are able to see one display on your way to the second floor (which was kind of cool). Nice museum, I would go back.

The main exhibition on at the moment is about Taylor Swift, which I didn't see. There is a charge for this exhibition but there is no charge to see the exhibits from the museum's permanent collection on the 3rd floor, and some artists' studios on the 6th floor can also be visited if they are open. I particularly liked the wooden sculptures and bowls, made from different types of wood from all over the world. Some of the grains and colours were very beautiful. One thing which marred my visit was the aggressiveness of one of the staff in the entrance foyer. There is a ticket desk at one side but I assumed this was just for people buying tickets to Taylor Swift - there is no clear signage to say that you also need to get a ticket even for free entry. I went towards the staircase at the side of the foyer, which had no member of staff standing near it, but suddenly this particular man appeared and demanded to see my wristband. I said I just wanted to see the free part of the museum and he told me I still needed a ticket in the most derisory tone of voice, as if I should have known that. After getting a ticket, I then waited around five minutes for one of the two extremely slow elevators to turn up so I asked the lift attendant if I could go up the stairs instead. He said yes, but when I went towards the stairs I was once again stopped by the same rude staff member, who told me I had to get the elevator. By this point I was annoyed and embarrassed and actually just wanted to leave. Perhaps the stairs only go to the Taylor Swift exhibition - I don't know because there was no signage.

Great fun with art workshop with artist. Also make sure you visit the restaurant at the top. The crab sandwiches and chicken sandwiches are both very nice. You get to overlook the central park when enjoying the meal before checking out the artworks
