Neighbourhood: Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

- Sarah S4 contributionsLovely Small MuseumWe really enjoyed this small museum. We were able to spend time really engaging with the exhibits without stressing about running out of time. The exhibits were thoughtful with excellent interpretation. And great location right at the bottom of Central Park! Gorgeous gift shop as well, worth coming in for gift shopping even if you're not visiting the exhibits.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 October 2023
- ACAlbuquerque, New Mexico207 contributionsSmall, but powerful space.Make sure you view what exhibitions are there before going to see if you are interested! Without going to the Taylor Swift floor, this Museum takes around an hour if you are invested in the exhibitions and take a close look. Shorter if you are blowing through. MAD's small space means that you don't have to hurry through each piece, and the curation of the exhibitions is very well done. I enjoyed this selection more than I have in some of the larger museums. If you like contemporary art that makes you think, you'll probably like what they have at MAD. I enjoyed that they had contemporary Native pieces on the 3rd floor.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 October 2023
- Lori MCalifornia1,984 contributionsgreat museum full of interesting works to ponderconvenient location in Columbus Circle. a little pricey for what you get ($18) but I had a pass. there were 3 open floors of galleries plus the lovely goblet display in the stairwell. gorgeous wood carvings in one section, and various other "crafts" showcasing them to actually be just as elevated as "art". exploring what is the difference anyway... ? puppetry, performance art, sculpture, quits, and more gave the visitor plenty to see and enjoy. installations rotate so check what's on! ps - I didn't go the Taylor Swift floor but you are able to see one display on your way to the second floor (which was kind of cool). Nice museum, I would go back.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 8 November 2023
- FarwriterLondon, United Kingdom134 contributionsInteresting exhibits, unpleasant staffThe main exhibition on at the moment is about Taylor Swift, which I didn't see. There is a charge for this exhibition but there is no charge to see the exhibits from the museum's permanent collection on the 3rd floor, and some artists' studios on the 6th floor can also be visited if they are open. I particularly liked the wooden sculptures and bowls, made from different types of wood from all over the world. Some of the grains and colours were very beautiful. One thing which marred my visit was the aggressiveness of one of the staff in the entrance foyer. There is a ticket desk at one side but I assumed this was just for people buying tickets to Taylor Swift - there is no clear signage to say that you also need to get a ticket even for free entry. I went towards the staircase at the side of the foyer, which had no member of staff standing near it, but suddenly this particular man appeared and demanded to see my wristband. I said I just wanted to see the free part of the museum and he told me I still needed a ticket in the most derisory tone of voice, as if I should have known that. After getting a ticket, I then waited around five minutes for one of the two extremely slow elevators to turn up so I asked the lift attendant if I could go up the stairs instead. He said yes, but when I went towards the stairs I was once again stopped by the same rude staff member, who told me I had to get the elevator. By this point I was annoyed and embarrassed and actually just wanted to leave. Perhaps the stairs only go to the Taylor Swift exhibition - I don't know because there was no signage.Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 22 March 2024

The crab sandwiches and chicken sandwiches are both very nice. Very tiny, with not a lot to see.
Most exhibits looked like a high school home ec project.
We have been to a lot of museums around the world & we’re disappointed to have paid $36 for this one.
We were In & out in about 10 mins.

Suggest you carefully review the traveling displaybefore you pay to go. We booked this at the last minute (Wednesday and the Metropolitan museum was closed). What a mistake. I really thought this museum would have a nice overall display of art and design. It didn’t.
Two floors dedicated to a traveling topic which didn’t interest me and one floor to jewelry.
Took about 15 minutes to find the exit
Maybe if the traveling display was different I’d have another opinion….

Came to NYC for the day primarily to see this. While the exhibit itself is not very large, what is there is exhilarating for Swifties to see. My daughter didn't want to leave. The outfits are fascinating up close and there are some instruments and jewels, too. It would make a terrific long term exhibit to expand it and add some of the Eras tour outfits and props, if they become available any time soon.
We only explored one of the other floors of museum exhibits, the paper dresses. This was an interesting but quick walk thru.
If you take the elevator to the top (9th) floor there is a restaurant with sweeping views of some long avenues dotted with skyscrapers. We didn't eat there but they didn't seem to mind us enjoying the vantage point for a bit.
We really liked that the museum was so close to Central Park and headed there afterwards to explore.

This museum is a lot of fun,and the exhibits change. It’s good to see what a variety of artists are creating using a variety of materials. The bathroom is located at the lower level. A small gift shop is available. Elevators and steps are available for your use. You may photograph the artworks- NO flash. All, in all, the visit proved to be a great experience.

This small museum, conveniently located at Columbus Circle, focusses on arts, crafts and design. Particularly interesting right now is the "Funk You Too" exhibition, "Humor and Irreverence in Ceramic Sculpture, while the exhibition on paper dresses, which were a fad in the 1960s, is historically important. Well worth a visit.

Came specifically for the Taylor Swift pop up and was heavily disappointed. If you’re a local i can see how passing by would be okay, but if you’re coming from out of town don’t go out of your way to see it. Not worth it AT ALL. You’ll take about 20 minutes to walk the museum.
