I wanted to experience some jazz in my first trip to New York. We were in the neighbourhood and had heard about good jazz at Smoke. I got a bit more jazz than I bargained for when our party of four got a table right next to the stage. When I say it was close, I mean the music stand... More

Amazing atmosphere, Fabulous food. I absolutely loved it at Smoke, Friendly staff and really great food. Proper (small) slice of the New York Jazz scene. Its a cozy little place, and not the cheapest in town, but the overall experience, and great food make up for any money quibbles. We stayed on 7th Avenue By Madison Square gardens, and found... We enjoyed the jazz music and the my husband said his bread pudding was good. (We went for drinks, not dinner). I had the recommended red wine which I would not recommend. It was not worth the $10 per glass price, at all. When we were seated, on each of menus was a yellow paper that said "$9 music charge... More

This club is outstanding. It's intimate so the seating will be close, but not as bad as others in NYC. They are friendly here and Harold Mabern of the Eric Alexander quartet came out into the croud after the set to speak with club-goers. You feel taken care of here and your spirits will soar. The spirit of Lena Horne... More

we spent an evening during our stay to NYC. If we can say that the cooking was excellent, we were very disappointed on one hand by the fact that they pile up customers in their club, on the other hand because they impose a break of approximately one hour between the first and the second session. Thus we understood clearly... More

This is a very small jazz club on the Upper West Side. We saw some incredible Latin jazz by the Steve Turre Quintet. The sound was good, the cover charge was a steep $30 each and the food was very good. The down side is that tables are packed together in a row and you end up eating dinner with... More

This UWS club is more than cozy, with wall-to-wall people, almost reminiscent of the late Gold Star Sardine Bar in Chicago. But good food, a nice wine list, and a great house salsa/bop band, SYOTOS, the Sunday night we were there, made it worth the trek.
