The Iconic Village Vanguard. The only jazz club residing at its original location. Still thriving in the West Village of Nyc. Recommend a reservation to insure entry. Not rating here, only drinks and Music. Some Legends have graced that stage Miles, Thelonious Monk, Coltrane among...More

I mean that literally -- on a cool September Friday night, it was easily 90 degrees in this basement, the only air moving thanks to a single window fan, luckily positioned a few feet from me. Without that, I might have fainted. My wife and...More

I visited Village Vanguard at Thursday night in August. I made a reservation through internet before visit. I really enjoyed Jazz Orchestra for an hour. We have to order at least one drink.

Fulfilled a long time dream of going to the VV. Wife and I (both Jazz fans) took son and partner who are new to it, but had wanted to visit a club as they had enjoyed their previous visits to clubs in London and Paris....More

Nice venue, good table service, but very claustrophobic. The maximum allowed in the cellar is 123 and I think it was full. I could not move and was at a 90degree angle to the stage. I could listen, but not really see. I could not...More

Our 1st time here, saw Russell Malone. You line up outside and pick your own seating. We were early and ended up inches from the stage. That said, not a bad seat in the house. Friendly service and staff. I was worried about the experience...More

Small intimate venue with excellent jazz musicians. We went to the 7.30pm performance which was packed out. Would definitely recommend it for a night of pure jazz music.

Enjoyable show at a venue full of history. Generations of jazz lovers have sat in these chairs, knee to knee with the table next to them. I would go back any and every chance I get. If you want a swanky club experience or a...More

Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the
West Village is one of the city’s most coveted

cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture,
this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You
won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan.
Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to

Depending on the maturity of your 14and16 year old, I would say yes. The atmosphere was congenial and low key. The music is the focus!

There is no dress code except maybe the usual "shirt & shoes" requirement. It's a very casual place. People are more likely to dress for the place they'll be dining before or after.

Definitely book in advance, easy to do online. Also arrive early to get a good seat- space is limited.
