- KK78Bay Shore, New York890 contributionsBeautiful Old TheatreThe theatre is beautiful, built 120 years ago, but with an old space there are some drawbacks. I would recommend not booking seats in the top tier of the theatre. It's very steep and awkward and the seats slant to the sides. There are also some obstructive views.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 6 November 2023
- Bernard WDallas, Texas1,948 contributionsFeel good entertainment for any and everyoneNew Amsterdam Theatre opened in 1903, Though it is lovely, it is 120 years old. After getting the animated Aladdin out of our heads, we thoughally enjoyed the Broadway performance. We had terrific center orchestra seats and felt that the show was just for us. Wonderful voices, choreography, orchestra, lighting, and staging. Very special feel-good entertainment.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 December 2023
- Valentina GordonBrooklyn, New York63 contributionsIt’s a wow!!!!!!It was a wonderful performance of "Aladdin" tonight at 8:30! It is a birthday gift for me (January 7th). The last year ago, I was watching "Aladdin" too. Engaging other set of actors, and himself pretty actor playing Aladdin. I loved very much the scene about Arabian nights and Magic Carpet. They dance and sing!!!!! There was 1 intermission. I wish them good luck to head for Hollywood!!!!! The Broadway show is lasting for two hours and fifteen minutes, be sure you park with "iPark", when you ride further for approximately a minute. 👍👍👍👍🧞♂️Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 January 2024

- Christopher RBaltimore, Maryland37 contributionsa delightful jaunt through another Arabian NightMy thoughts on Aladdin. It was very good, the costumes were amazing. The set was unique, versatile and well thought out. The performers were wonderful, the lead, currently a fellow Peabody Conservatory alum, Michael Maliakel was outstanding. Princess Jasmine had a lovely voice. There was great chemistry among the cast, especially with the wonderful performance of Aladdin's three friends Kassim, Omar and Babkak. The magic carpet "whole new world" was to say the least magical and brilliant as only Disney could have done. I only had 3 complaints: Bathrooms, holy cow the Bathrooms are a joke, far too few no way to meet demand. The Genie, while his entertainment value and showmanship do the character justice, and were very good, his singing voice was meh at best (sure that's harsh I know but it was cringe inducing) to be fair it was a matinee performance and maybe he rocked it last night. Finally, the biggest sin, it was over amplified. I made it about 1/2 way through the opening number barely understanding a thing or note played before putting in my ear plugs. By doing that I suddenly had vocal and orchestral clarity. Everything it seems is being amped, every instrument every voice and not in a good way, if I were Disney I'd hire some new sound people.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 30 March 2024
- FLBFiveStaten Island, New York900 contributionsGreat first Broadway experience for 6 year oldsCelebrated a family member's birthday by taking the family to see Aladdin. We have two 6-year-olds with us. They sat through the entire performance and both young and old enjoyed it. Seats were far right of orchestra, which we were a little apprehensive about, but was able to see the stage clearly. Would recommend grabbing a booster seat for the little ones.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 19 May 2024

The theater itself is historic and very beautiful. The show was very entertaining. It even kept the attention of our six year old, which is quite a feat.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 19 June 2024

When we were offered front row seats at the ticket counter, I thought we had struck gold. The seats were not cheap so I thought theymust be good seats. They are not. Your knees are hard up against the barrier between you and the orchestra and your feet have to go on a slant to fit. My daughter was recovering from a knee operation and was unable to fully bend her knee, the leg room made it very painful for her. The couple at the side of us went and asked if they could change seats and pay any difference, only to be told that they had to buy in full, another ticket for each of them. Poor customer service. However, at the interval they were moved for free, to a seat further back. This meant we could sit on more of an angle and have one seat space between us, so we were more comfortable; however, not ideal.
The show was excellent and well cast. The Genie played his part well as did the comedian character. We throughly enjoyed the show and the magic carpet ride was awesome.
The theatre itself is olde worlde and full of characer. All the staff were good and though refreshments are pricey, this is how it is in all New York Theatres we have
been to.
Would I go to this theatre again? NO because of the seating and what I have read about the seating on other reviews. Would I go and see Alladin again? YES but at another theatre.
Show would have got 4 stars, seating 0 stars.

We went to see Aladdin and I cant not stress just how wonderful both the show and theatre was. I'm not a huge Disney person but this show is so fun - just full of energy, action and excitement. If you are visiting NYC then this is a must!

We saw Aladdin in the New Amsterdam, a very charming old theater with beautiful stucco decorations. Fantastic show with great artists. The effects were superb, the stage technology was really great. We found the break a little strange, when the ushers were constantly shouting the way to the toilets and the drinks bar at a considerable volume. It would have been easy to find the way without this noise. The prices for drinks and snacks were overpriced, but you don't have to buy anything, the break passes without it. All in all, it was a very successful and entertaining evening.

Had never done a Broadway show before but decided to go for one anyways on recommendations from many people. Bought tickets on the day before through Headout as I wasnt getting good tickets anywhere else.
I went to the theater and easily spotted the Headout person and went into the theatre. The theatre was compact and on first impression I thought that the stage was small but was not as I realized later. Headout gave me a ticket on row E so was very aptly seated.
The play itself was mindblowing. The actors and actresses esp the genie were out of the world. Just didn't realize how 2.5 hours went by. I didn't buy any food or souvenirs.
An extremely good experience, great dialogues, acting, colorful backdrop... will definitely go for another play next time I am in the city.

The Aladdin show was magical. A true fairy tale. The actors are very good and the stage effects make everything seem real. The ticket price is not low but it is worth it. It was a unique experience that I loved. Not to be missed!

We want to see Aladdin but I am curvy with a wide butt and my son is 6ft4. Which seats will offer the most comfort for us?
Written 16 July 2022
Is Row D too close to the stage to see Aladin ? (It appears that Row A is not being used for this play) so we'd be in the 3rd row of available seats. Thank you.
Written 26 January 2020
We were sitting a bit further up, but I believe wherever your seat is, you'll be quite comfortable with it.

Are there lockers or anywhere to put your bags from shopping ? I Will only be in the city for the day, bus trip. Thanks. If not suggestions where to put my belongings during the show. Thx
Written 19 July 2018
No lockers at the theater. You pay $3-$5 and they give you a ticket to come back with at the end of the show. They take your bags and store them in a private/excluded room, like a coat room. When your show is finished and you are ready to leave, you go back to that area by the soda/candy vendor and give them your ticket and they give you back your bags. It was all very secure when we used the service.
