I really don't know how to score this place; on the one hand some of singers (and pianist) are phenomenally talented; on the other a couple of them are downright rude We had a great night, largely due to the fact we were seated close to some lovely people and by and large the quality of the entertainment was superb.... After visiting NYC several times over the years I was beginning to fear the Apple had given over its Midtown iconic 42nd street spirit of music and artistic nighttime soul to the Broadway Babies of mediocrity, until last night. Visited the lengendary oasis of gastronomy and entertainment last night with a British actress, producer friend who lives here and was... More

Recently dined here and was pleasantly surprised. In fact, we almost walked right by due to the name. I am so glad we chose to eat here. What a hidden gem. The food was delicious... definitely get the homemade garlic bread. There was a back room with the piano bar as well as a live band playing and the front... More

If you're going to the theatre, walk a few blocks beyond the chains at Times Square to Restaurant Row. This is a delightful small place, with a varied menu and friendly staff. We only were in the restaurant; apparently, they also have a lively piano bar with singing. A very good choice before the theatre.

Called in for a drink during happy hour, perhaps we were early but the bar was empty and It felt a little downtrodden, perhaps a bit later there is more atmosphere, it was a pity because it had been recommended to us

Don't Tell Mama is a piano bar. We love it and come here every time we're in NY. Piano players are great and sometimes the waitresses sing as well. So much fun

Stopped in quickly for a drink to see and hear the fun. The Piano bar is a rather small and cozy location, very casual and certainly not very fancy. The music and atmosphere were nice, although while I was there I was fairly subdued with no singing. However I can see this being a nice place to visit after a... More

An 'off broadway' small bar and restaurant attracting a cross section of all that is New York. A lot of fun with a less than perfect volunteer piano player and singer. Just adds to the experience. Great place for a drink and to check out the locals. Did not have the chance to eat here.

We spotted this place, back in March when we were in NYC. Our 10 year old daughter was with us, so it was a no go...on that trip. This time it was Mommy and Daddy's trip...so we made it a point to hit this place for some NYC night time fun. A very cool laid back place. We did not... More

Had the best New York City experience ..... 'Don't Tell Mamma' ... great food and the accompanying lounge with Broadway actors serving drinks and highlighting their talent is better than any sterile show you will see on 46th (where this place is also)...... FABULOUS.... do yourself a favour and go here for an affordable and great dinner and then mosey... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
