Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is one of my favorite speakeasy cocktail bars in all of NYC, and for good reason. Their bartenders have definitely cut their teeth and make a mean drink - with whatever fresh ingredients they have - and if you don't like it, just say so and it gets fixed/rectified/replaced/whatever.
I have been here many times over the years and somehow neglected to review them. Shame on me. I have taken plenty of friends both local and out-of-towners here to enjoy a well-crafted drink. My vote - as I would say to anyone here for the first time and who enjoys a tasty, unique libation made from scratch - sit at the bar. I always do, and you'll be happy you did. Don't you want to watch these delicious drink creators go through their process? I know I do.
Nicolas seems to have a pretty good memory as he recalled me from an earlier visit (like 6 months earlier - he is the manager/owner (part?) after all). The place is pretty tiny, and yes, it is hard to find if you don't look in the right place. The ambiance is perfect and they do boast some pleasant outdoor seating if you are in the mood for table service instead of bar seats (of which there aren't many).
The last time I went, I came with a friend who I brought for the first time and we sampled a variety of cocktails. I tend to like mine spicy - the more spice the better - and I definitely put Nicolas to the test. I have to be honest and say that I have never ordered an on menu cocktail - and for a long time I never even knew they had a menu! My vote is to go in, see what is listed on their chalk boards (on both ends of the bar) as fresh ingredients for the day - and then pick a couple along with an alcohol base and let the bartenders work their magic. You won't be disappointed.
They do have a small bites menu if you are feeling so inclined. And though we ordered some sliders that night, I have never actually come here with the intent to eat so I don't want to comment about the food until I give it its due sampling. Oh, and check out their water dispenser...I mean, why can't I have "ambient" water all the time?!

The trick is in finding this bar! Just a red door, no sign, on Mulberry Street.
When you get in the bartender asks you a series of questions about your cocktail, mixer and spirit questions then gets to work on your cocktail using a wide array of ingredients and aromatic bitters. End result - fantastic cocktails!
Very friendly staff who obviously have a passion for mixology.
One of the better NYC secrets that is definitely worth a visit.

This is a fun "speakeasy" in the heart of Little Italy. Walk down stairs and enter a bourbon style bar, out the backdoor is an outdoor patio. Its a nice spot to have after dinner drinks in Little Italy.

Once we found how to get in and walked to the back patio, I was pleasantly surprised. I did tell our server the types of flavored I like and what I got didn't really seem to match that at all. I finished my drink but am not sure I would go back again just to wish the next time a $15 experiment works out.

Interesting concept: You go in the bar and basically you tell the bartender what ingredients you like and he will make a drink with that. How cool is that?

When you walk into an empty bar at opening time and get asked if you have a reservation... I think this bar is an example of how great places can be turned bad by staff with poor customer focus. We had only intended to stay for a quick pit stop but after the surly attitude of the scruffy-looking character behind the bar we turned around and left. Never to return.

Amazing place to have a drink in the middle of Little Italy. Hard to find, but that is what makes it more interesting. The drinks are amazing and the food is deliciuos.

it was not that easy to spot the entry, but this is what speak-easy are about. My visit was on a Sunday night, so it was not crowded. the place is nice and cocktails were great. Am a Bourbon sour lover, and the MP's one was perfect. There is also a changing menu of originals cocktails, really inspiring and tasty if you want to try something new.
