My wife and I booked early for the sunset (about 5:30pm) and we got there early. The staff were lovely, polite and helpful. The Top of the Rock is much better than the top of the Empire State Building and would recommend anyone to do The Rock rather than the Empire State. You can actually see the Empire State from... Some people prefer to go to Empire State Building rather than Top of the Rock. That's a mistake! If you go to New York, you have to experience this 360° view.

The view from the top of this building is stunning! At night, you can see the city and the surrounding suburbs skyline. The building features three levels of observation varying in height. The Top of the Rock is definitely a must for your visit to New York!!

Forget about all other roof top, the top of the rock is the place to have a great vision of Manhattan from South Central Park. Nice to go for the sunset picture or at night to enjoy how NYC is beautiful place and enjoy the view of North/South on Manhattan. On Clear sky much better.

Definitely a must see during your visit to NYC! Best views of the city including central park. We also did this in the evening to see the city all lit up. Definitely do both. If you have a New York pass you are entitled to one free entry and then if you want to visit again you get admission at... More

We spent our 10th anniversary on top of the rock and we were not disappointed. It may have been the beginning of February, but the sky's were clear and it gave us the best views ever! This was by far my favourite attraction.

This was included with explorer pass and we chose to upgrade to the day and night pass which let's you see the skyline twice in 24 hrs. We got there when it opened so the line was reasonable. It didn't take us long to get to the top and we enjoyed the view from all angles. We returned that night... More

Amazing. We purchased the sun and stars ticket meaning you can go in the day time and come back in the night. Honestly the views are breathtaking, especially at night. Just staring out onto Manhattan and looking at the Empire state building. The views onto central park are better in the daytime, but are still nice at night. The queues... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
