Well, as a first time visitor to NY, I was overwhelmed by most places. Same was the case with garment district too. I was attracted by the Button on a pin sculpture which made me wander in the neighbourhood. Not a touristy place but garment...More

It's a good place if your interested in wholesale shopping or sample shopping. The one thing about sampling shopping is that you can't try things on, so it's a good deal if you know your size in the brand or your okay with altering the...More

Unless you are in the garment business there is very little here for the traveler to see. Unless there is something specific you want to see here, my opinion is that you are better off using your time in New York City seeing other attractions.

Mood fabrics was absolutely my Mecca. Any sewing buff would love it although it was a bit overwhelming at first the staff was great and very helpful.

As a seamstress I enjoyed every second I spent in all the fabric stores! Mode was amazing 3 story ceiling to floor fabrics. Also found several smaller stores. Well worth the visit!

Basically, a scruffy run down neighbourhood, with a lot of highly overpriced arts/craft shops and designer outlets, which you would also find on 5th Avenue in far more pleasant surroundings! Don't bother going there!

A fascinating tour I found just by googling "Garment Districy NYC" cost us $60 and a morning. We met outside a retail/wholesale trimming and notions establishment. I foolishly didn't purchase anything (what a great selection!) thinking we would hit this one during out tour. Don't...More

A really interesting neighbourhood that can be visited easily from the main attractions in Manhattan and is a great place to grab some lunch.

As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has
played a vital role in the history of New York City.
Today, the neighbourhood is as vibrant as ever as new
businesses and developments go up next to local
institutions. The heart of the neighbourhood is
bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and
historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with
big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and

Honestly, any day is a good day apart from Sundays. I'd say go when it's not lunch break and generally when there's not too many people.

Never took a tour...just walking around can see the sculptures evocative of the area and people walking racks of clothing to and fro...lots of places advertise open to retail and often people on the street holding placards... More
