My first night in NYC and someone had recommended this place to me. I almost walked past because the place was packed. I'm glad I went in. It's difficult being in a bar this busy alone and it was impossible for a while to find a place to be without standing in the middle of the corridor or looking like... More

If you're travelling alone as a gay man this is really the first place you have to visit! I went to the saloon on my first night in NYC and it didn't take long before I was talking to the lovely bar man named Freddie. He made really made me feel at home. The other guests were alot of fun... More

I realize that's a large claim to make, but the Saloon embodies a casual, old-school atmosphere that is extremely lacking these days. This is no upscale, pretentious gay bar; it is all about relaxing, watching the TVs, fun conversation, and a great jukebox. Prices are absurdly low and the bartenders, from Joey on weekdays to the sensational Bobby on weekends,... More

I hope I'm allowed to write that. My sister and I were in NY and stumbled across this bar and went in. We noticed no other women only men. We ordered our drink with Freddy who was very friendly he asked if we realised it was a Gay Bar. Only then did we. He assured us we were very welcome... More

We visited this grille twice, for breakfast. The first time was excellent so we decided to pay a second visit. Service was not so good the second time. Only one cup of coffee materialised and the staff seemed to go missing. Good food thhough.

Neighborhood feel for this place. Bartender was great, drinks were nicely poured and reasonably priced.

This place is one of my guilty pleasures. I go here to just relax and enjoy a drink and not be bombarded by people. It does get crazy on the weekends, but during the week it nice. Last time I went here the place was DECKED out for Halloween. I asked, and they said it took one guy two days... More

Our first night in NYC... ATMOSPHERE: The decor carries the name well. Thank goodness no one came in gun slinging! The bar is small and dim and nothing to write home about. The only entertainment was ESPN on the TV's... Snooze! DRINKS: Heineken - Over priced like everywhere else in NYC at $7. SERVICE: The male bartender was friendly. OVERALL:... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
