Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked to see 'I can get it for you Wholesale' and what a great show. The theatre is very small and intimate giving a strong connection to the actors. All the performances were excellent and the show very thought provoking. We rated this one of the best shows we have seen in NYC

I went with a friend to see SNOW IN MIDSUMER , at the Classic Stage Company.
I was extremely involved with the story because the actors made it so believable. The murder mystery and ghost story takes place in China and is adapted from a classical Chinese drama. I highy recomend seeing this play before it ends on July 9. Si gkad that U saw ut,

Saw Assassins here on Saturday. Vax cards and IDs were checked before entering, masks were required and strictly enforced. Show was good, not great. Acting was excellent, direction was good, story isn't up to Sondheim's best

I'm truly sorry. I've only experienced one of their plays. The environment is very nice, and the company seems very accomplished. But "Frankenstein," I thought, was just awful. Don't get me wrong, Stephanie Berry's role was very challenging, with so much dialogue and so many character changes, and for the most part she was excellent. Not so with the script, which I have to say was more pretentious than "metaphysical." Frankenstein's Monster's quick ascent from grunts to Elizabethan English would have been bad enough, but the book's narrative isn't even written in Elizabethan English, thou shouldst realize. It was just disconcerting, and it reached its crescendo when the narration was describing the Monster grunting mournfully over the Doctor's body while the Monster stood onstage waxing profoundly. The "music," consisted of some skillful guitar riffs, which did help create the mood, and two pieces of "songs" with lyrics like "Frankenstein, try harder / Frankenstein, try harder." The whole thing was just incongruous and, I can't help but say, tedious, which "Frankenstein" really shouldn't be. I couldn't help seeing eyelids drooping across the stage. I guess one has to be careful with things "avant-garde" and "re-imagined." There was clearly an attempt to explore the deeper human themes of "Frankenstein," but it should have been more show and less show off.

My group of four saw the Frankenstein matinee at CSC today. It was WONDERFUL! In preparation for the performance, I re-read the book. I can say in the 80 minutes the two actors, Stephanie Berry and Rob Morrison, captured the pathos of the novel. It was a taut and deeply felt experience. I am grateful I had the opportunity to witness this excellent production. Thank you.

This staging of Macbeth was excellent. The play is fast paced to begin with. This production puts the pedal to the metal. The performances were excellent and moving.

This rarely produced play is currently running at CSC. The play is presenting in song and the cast does a good job. It takes place during the Depression and deals with labor strife and the coming of age of unions.

Saw the Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui at the Classic Stage Company yesterday, at least our 6th visit to the intimate (250 seats?) theater in the East Village. Shows are always gripping and run the gamut from Russian drawing room comedies to the adaptation of Dead Poets' Society into a play to this remake of a Bertolt Brecht play from the 1930s.

When you enter this theater you never know what you'll get. We've seen the stage angled three different directions in our many times here and this show used an upper level we hadn't experienced before.

Seats are well pitched and pretty comfortable, although some are narrow

We saw a production of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui yesterday. The staging was effective and the acting was very good. Enjoyed the play but it wasn't outstanding. The themes of a lunatic seizing control of a nation sound sadly familiar.

We just saw a wonderful staging of Hammerstein's Carmen Jones. The singing and acting was outstanding. The entire cast was terrific especially Carmen and Joe.
