Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small national park with wooded trails. Disappointing that most trails did not lead to mountain overlooks. Camp David is in the middle of this park, but you won't get close to it!

An Appalachian Mountain Park with lots of trees and hills. The visitor center is basic, constructed by the CCC in the 1930s as were the camp ground buildings. We used the picnic grounds. We were disappointed that a ranger program we drove to was cancelled without notice. Long hikes are required to see many of the highlights of the park.

Although this park is open throughout the year, a large portion of the road that runs through the park and several stops that are in the open section of the park were closed (despite what the ranger said at the visitor center), which was disappointing. We were wanting to walk on one of the easier hiking loops but those were located off sections of the park that were closed. We managed to find a picnic area, where we were all by ourselves. It was in part of the park that was closed off from cars but we accessed it by a 10 minute hike from the area where we were able to park the car (which was not very scenic). We had hoped to spend a few hours here but only stayed about hour due to so much of the areas to (legally) park your car were closed off, which prevented us from accessing their easier hiking trails. We will have to come back when the weather is warmer

This is an unexpectedly beautiful park. I did some short hikes that offered some excellent views. The waterfall was pretty much dried up from the drought when I visited, but the hike was nice. The park is not the easiest to navigate by car, but there is plenty of parking at the trail heads. The visitor center was nice as well as the gift shop, and the park rangers were friendly as well.

We drove all over the mountain. The drive takes you through a very winding road. There’s a few areas you can stop and checkout scenery.

Interesting visitor center at a nice location. We did the hike from the visitor center to Cummingham Falls which was mostly uphill and downhill some of the way (1.4 mi one way) The staff were nice and exhibits were really interactive and cool. Only problem was the people breaking the rules in the park. Seems like there isn’t at all any enforcement to those rules.

We took our dog for a hike at Catoctin Mountain Park while passing through the area. Very pretty area and nice hiking trails. Parking at the visitor center, we did the Falls-Hog Rock-Blue Ridge Vista loop hike, about 6 miles. The access to Cunningham Falls is from the handicapped parking and the view is not the greatest so keep in mind if planning to see the waterfall. It was a little cloudy but the overlooks along the trail - Hog Rock and Blue Ridge Summit Vista were really nice. I took a spur to Thurmont Vista and that one doesn't have much of a view. Overall, a really nice hike. We arrived around 8 and it wasn't too crowded but the parking was full when we left around noon, so try to arrive early.

Beautiful mountain park. We visited on a gorgeous day in late September and the trees were glorious. Nice hiking here, and good visitors' center.

This unpretentious park offers some wonderful trails, streams, and views. Spend an hour or spend a day. Either way you can't go wrong.

Spent several hours here in June as part of a West Virginia vacation.

Some notes:
They were mowing so could not go up the main road to the top.
The employees answering questions were very helpful.
Did Blue Blazes Whiskey Trail - shady walk and not too hard
Drove to Sawmill - nice view of an old sawmill
Did Spicebush Trail - nice short trail that is pretty shady
Waterfall Trail - very hilly and you cross a street and end up at Cunningham Falls boardwalk.
