I love it! The DAI provides an amazing combination of artwork, classic architecture, events, classes, special exhibits, and venues. Recently I took a reminiscent solo trip in this great treasure of Ohio. It is so covenient to travel on I-75 and yet so beautifully seated on a hill overlooking the river and Dayton cityscape. The staff and volunteers are as... More

This is a small museum, with some surprisingly lovely modern and contemporary pieces, charming architecture, and pretty solid visiting exhibitions. They had a fairly transcendent landscape photography exhibit visiting when I toured. There are also some arresting paintings in the American gallery that I have never seen before. Worth the visit if your from out of town.

Dayton Oktoberfest at DAI is definitely something to check out! But, if you aren't here for that single weekend in September DAI has an amazing collection to view at anytime! Admission is free to permanent exhibits and very reasonable to touring exhibits. The building and grounds are absolutely beautiful and definitely worth the trip!

Oktoberfest is the best part of the museum. This function always is a good time and brings out some nice vendors and good food. The museum itself is overpriced and unfortunately just does not have the art attractions that so many other museums seem to have. If you compare it to the Cincinnati Museum of art or the Toledo Museum... More

I was at Oktoberfest and decided to view the exhibits. I was not disappointed. Even the permanent art is inspiring and well displayed. Even the building is art, and many homes around the institute are (or were once) beautiful works of architecture. Unfortunately, the surrounding neighborhood has been forgotten by the city to decay. Go during the day.

The special exhibits displayed at the art museum are wonderfully set up with the visuals and background information on the artists and their techniques . They are able to assist you in understanding the theme of the show as well as enhancing your understanding of the work.

We went to see another of the Dayton Art Institute special exhibits. This was very well displayed, and it ends around Jan. 08, 2016. We'll look forward to seeing another special exhibit as they have had outstanding special exhibits in the past. In the warm months we have had lunch in the center atrium.

Visited during a weekday in summer with my family. The museum was very quiet. Decent collections. We were impressed by the glass art work. No staffed kids activities when we visited but the family area was large with a few things you could do with a small child. Require paid admission. We paid extra for the penguins project, which was... More

The building on the outside is grand. Inside, the architecture is fabulous. Did not see much of the artwork as we were there attending a elegant and lavish Gala. Caterer was great!

The DAI has a very nice permanent collection from a variety of well-known artists from around the world. Everything from paintings to sculpture to glass - and just about everything in between. Monet, Hopper, DeGas, Rubens, O'Keeffe, Tiffany, Chihuly...and on and on. There is also quite an eclectic and elaborate collection of Asian Art which one can easily spend a... More
