Summer Field Trip
May 2019 • Friends
Possum Creek is full of childish fun and wonder. Our field guides were professional, knowledgeable and patient with our high-spirited group of youngsters. We enjoyed learning about, and petting, the farm animals, as well as learning about the history of the farm, the flora and fauna, and about other yearly events held there. It was a memorable visit for all of us, children, parents and teachers alike. We will definitely be visiting again.

Teens can safely practice driving skills
Sep 2017 • Family
This peaceful metro park is a wonderful place for an afternoon family outing or a solo jog. Entry is free and numerous picnic shelters are conveniently scattered throughout the park. There are a few fishing lakes where if you look carefully, you may even spot a beaver dam. Further into the park is a clean parking lot and a restroom building. Grab the hand wipes, then follow the short paved path, perfect for wheelchairs and strollers, to the largest barn. The farm animals are housed here when they are not out roaming the fields. When in stalls, you can pet a cow, donkey, sheep, and goats. A smaller building houses rabbits and a second contains an indoor/outdoor chicken coop. These buildings do lock up in the late afternoon. There are a few flat hiking trails. I suggest bringing water and snacks with you. I have brought two large preschool classes here on field trips with no problems. For teens learning to drive, this is a perfect place to become comfortable behind the wheel. The speed limit is 15mph and there are stop signs, left and right turns, loops and lots of parking places with virtually no other cars around.

Farm birthday party
Aug 2017 • Family
Used the farm shelter for a birthday party. Grilled burgers and hot dogs. Went to the barn to see animals. Visited the chicken coop and bunny house. It was a fun time for everyone.

I love going fishing here. This is such a relaxing spot and lots of wild life to watch too. on my last visit I seen beavers swimming in the waters and many turtles too. Caught a nice 4 pound bass out of the water too. Love going here for fishing and the fellow fishermen are friendly too.........

Interesting Composting Course
Apr 2017 • Couples
Composting course was good (albeit, being over 3 days, felt a little drawn out). Excellent, friendly and knowledgeable staff.

NIce park for a walk
Mar 2017 • Family
A little out of the way, but worth it if you would like to take a walk ranging in distances from 1/4 mile to almost 5 miles. Not strenuous .... level walking grounds.

See nature not crowds
Nov 2016 • Family
Had the park to ourselves on a cold weekend. Parked at the Argonne Forest lot. Used the pit toilets, read the sad history of the place, and hiked the trails. Be sure to take the map with you, as we found the trails to be very poorly marked. The connector trails aren't marked at all, and there is no distance or destination posted anywhere so you need good map reading skills or GPS. Check out the "talking trees" and the skeletons of street cars abandoned long ago. Startled an entire herd of deer when we reemerged from the forest.

Great hiking and horse trails
Sep 2016 • Friends
This is a great hiking park and also has separate nice horseback trails. Great parking for both areas and well marked trails. The trails are also really nice for trail running.

Camping and Wilderness First Responder Training
Mar 2016 • Business
Camping in Dayton in March is always a fun time (snow, wind, rain, rain, snow, wind). However, I stayed in Possum Creek Park at one of their reservable campsites while taking a seven-day Wilderness First Responder there. Park security rolled through a few times a day and always checked on us in the evening. The pond was lovely in the morning (migrating water fowl). The donkey at the farm was friendly. And the park was in great shape (even in spite of being the end of winter.
