This park has a small playground area and several walking trails. There is also camping available. My kids like playing on the playground and I like walking the trails.

Nice kept by the Manatee Parks and Recreation folks. Peaceful and relaxing for a stroll, jog, biking, or kayaking.

Yellow trail is more primitive than the Red trail. The Yellow had more flowers, but both had GREAT river views. Centrally located restrooms, many picnic tables and a play area for the kids!! The trail to the settlement was a bit to primitive for me...More

Pack some water. Large areas with trails hike. Stream to fish. Play area for kids. Also, a walking stick would be good, many snakes around

Just a waste of time and gas. A few small picnic areas and that is it. It could use a cleaning . . it was just not an appealing ride. You can't candy coat and spin this place as Old Florida charm.

This preserve gets little use in the off season, and is a great place to get away from the city, and enjoy the trails. Gopher Tortoises are frequent. There is a trail that leads to the Rye Settlement, which is a short hike. The only...More

This is a nice, quiet park with a small cemetery and several short walks near the Manatee river and Rye Creek. But I'm frustrated by the lack of maintenance on some of the trails, as parts are very overgrown and easy to get lost. The...More

Stopped by. Very primitive area. I actually started to feel uncomfortable being there. Found remnants of fires and bags of trash. Had the feeling that teens might hang here in the evenings. I wouldn't waste my time.

Tucked into this Preserve is an excellent Nature Center that is perfect for kids (& kids of any age including seniors) to learn about the history of this area, as well as about local wildlife.

River access for canoe or kayak, sure paddle board too! Lots of hiking, great free morning or afternoon. Picnic spots, camping too. I was really surprised. Teenagers park in front of bridge and walk across. Old Florida destination.

Yes, I can swim but if you mean swimming at the Rye; I would be leery although, there is a small kayak launch. I wouldn't feel very comfortable swimming in it because of ‘gators. Whatever please be safe.
