This memorial park is really quite pretty! Small gift shop and museum with video inside, live performance outside and beautiful walk on the grounds. It was well worth our visit, plus it is free! I would definitely recommend it for visitors in the Bradenton area!

Trails well kept, well marked. You can do a short or long walk. Good number of places to sit and rest.

This park is a very informative park with demonstrations at various times besides a nice display in the building. The boardwalk is a great walk - not to long and when you come out towards the end a huge cross is there near the shore. Quite a surprise I must say. I have done this walk about 4 times and... More

We went to a concert that is an annual affair at this park. Christmas celebration. It is historical in nature, well marked and easy to travel around. Guides can give you some interesting history with is kind of scary thinking of actually going there when it was at its peak. It is well signed, supervised and clean. The staff does... More

When we first arrived, there were a couple of costumed men demonstrating various weapons such as crossbows, axes, spears, etc. that were used by the explorer De Soto, his men, and the aboriginal people of the time. The movie at the welcome centre was very informative. De Soto was portrayed as a bit of a brutal and selfish man who... More

It has more of a feel of a city park than a national park in that no one has taken the time to really develop it. There is a small visitors center with a very affable gentlemen inside that is more than willing to help you. There's also a separate area with a couple reenactors that mark the highlight of... More

After arriving in Bradenton Beach FL, and at our gorgeous condo, many people said we should visit this national park. We took their advice and are so happy to have done so! It is chocked full of history from the 1500s and Cortez, a Spanish explorer. There are lots of artifacts and displays as well as an informative film. Amazing... More

I found his park mainly because you an bring your dog. Such a nice area to walk around, surrounded by water and trees.

Nice visitor center that sits right off the bay where Hernando DeSoto landed in Florida nearly 500 years ago. There is a 22 minute movie that details his exploration of the new world and a nice 3/4 mile hike trail amongst mangroves one can walk. Nice exhibits, clean restrooms, and all should take an hour or less.

Our family had a great experience here. We enjoy visiting National Parks and the Junior Ranger program (educational books & badges), and this was one of the better experiences we've had with the books. These have a variety of activity levels for different ages, one of the activities helps children to learn and use map skills (the rangers gave the... More
