We went for the first time at the end of November. It is a great way for adults and kids to learn about the history of Florida exploration, and the Native Americans. Great short hikes, and a beach along the trails, as well as some replicas of early settlements. A visitor center is on site with a small gift store.

My wife had been here before but I hadn't. There is a nice replica fort to walk through and read about how the different areas were used. There is a great visitors center with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. There are nice, informative displays in the center as well as a very well done video on De Soto. Walking the... More

This is such a lovely place, and full of history. Got a shock encountering the 'Indians' on the path during our walk. Great info film before you set off, all the staff were very helpful. Learnt this we did not know about Florida, I recommend this to everyone.

Visited during a family holiday in a Cape Coral villa. Was recommended to this memorial park and whilst in St Petersburg area, stopped off. Glad that we did, glorious views, walks and a general sense of its history, would have loved to stay longer!

Well worth a visit if in the Bradenton area. Just drive north on 75th Street until you reach the river! Some shortish trails which run along the river and some lovely peaceful places to sit en-route. Ample car parking at the entrance, there are washrooms near by. Definitely worth spending an hour or so here if you like unspoilt Florida... More

Off the main drag, tucked into its own paradise, you will find this small natural wonder. Short trails, waterfront views, picnic areas. You can play in small Sandy area, or wade in waters, but it's not the traditional "FloridaBeach." Plan for about an hour to walk through. There is a small visitors center with clean bathrooms and water fountains.

This park is a hidden gem in West Bradenton. It's not that large but it has some nice walking trails and informational tours.

We always try to stop at NPS sites when traveling... This spot was small but very nice... Learned a lot from the video... The volunteer staff helped us greatly... Worth a stop.

We sailed south for the weekend and tried to get onto Egmont Key, but the water was too rough and shallow. We found a calm anchorage just offshore of De Soto National Memorial and spent a few hours exploring. It was a nice little fine. Great for just a few hours - nice walk around the nature trail which is... More
