Getting our first glimpse of the Tower was awesome. You enter the area, and follow the signs. Nothing out of the ordinary. Then more of the same. Then, there it was! Majestic? Standing there all alone in the distance (really not all that far, after...More

You can start seeing the Monument from about 10 miles out along the road. It stands out like a large bump on the land surface. Once you reach the Monument you pay a small fee, park right next to the Ranger Station, Gift Shops and...More

Spectacular on approach this monolith just gets better the closer you get to it. Even the drive up to the visitor centre and parking has its own roadside attractions with lots of groundhogs (I think) easily viewable. The walk around the base of the tower...More

We were camping at Grand Rapids to see Mt. Rushmore but took a day trip to drive over to Wyoming to view this very unique rock formation. This is such a tall "hunk" of solid rock, an anomaly in the otherwise flat terrain, it can...More

Absolutely love coming here (second time). You see it from a ways off and it just keeps getting bigger. When you arrive, it’s just spectacular! A must see in the area. We drove in from Rapid City. Pretty easy drive there and pack.

Such a wonderfully peaceful and scenic area. The Native American history is truly remarkable. Watching those crazy climbers is mesmerizing, too! The first national monument in our country, put forth by Theodore Roosevelt. Put this on your Bucket List...and then do it!

The main parking is right at the trail head. There is another parking lot near a building between the entrance and the trail; I’d estimate a half mile or more from there to the trail head.
