Awesome rock! Enjoyed the paved-path walk around it. Saw some wildlife along the way. Loved seeing several sets of climbers scaling the walls; glad this is allowed.

Terrific trip. We walked the trail at the base of the Monument and were amazed by all the climbers! Not for the faint of heart for sure. It is a great Park!!

We went there about 7 pm and it was a very warm day. The trail was very easy to walk round all tarmac. The tower itself from every side was just a wow factor and as we were going round there were deer on the...More

Visited this famous site after a freak April snowstorm. It made the visit even more stunning than expected. Unfortunately, the trails were icy and slippery, but this did not detract from the visit one iota. It turned out to be an almost religious experience. Devil's...More

I have always wanted to visit Devils Tower since falling in love with it through the film "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". This place is awesome and no photograph or film can really do it justice. It has to be visited to be appreciated....More

It is not an exageration to say we crossed the country to go see, and more importantly, paint Devils Tower (acrylic on canvas, not vandalism). So with such expectations and long hours of looking at her, we can honestly say she never disappointed. We stayed...More

If you have the time, visit this amazing place. It's about 90minutes from Rapid City through highway and scenic roads. You can really see it within a few hours. The walk around the Tower is easy and takes 30-45 minutes. There are other trails too....More

I have wanted to see this monument since watching movie "Close Encounter of the Third Kind" with my mom when I was a child. I suppose this is mostly nostalgia for me. I must say it is enormous in sheer size. The highway and grounds...More

Well, I think doing a day trip from Hill City to Devils Monument might be a full day. I would recommend getting to the Monument early to avoid crowds, although September may be pretty quiet. I would make sure to do a... More

I have a small dog that I can carry in a backpack. Is she allowed on the Trail? She doesn't go into restaurants or stores. Just likes to hike.

I think I have answered this earlier and by now it is probably too late! Sorry! You will know that dogs are not allowed.
I'm traveling from Salt Lake City to Devils Tower then on to Custer State Park. Is there a good / interesting spot to stay midway between SLC and Devils Tower? Have been to Yellowstone tons of time prefer not to go again. Thanks

SLC to devil's tower is about 9 hours, give or take. I'm sure you're aware, there's not a lot between the two. Personally, I'd drive through and stay in Hulett (near Devil's tower). Not that this is a huge place with a... More
