Matt was a great guide - 5 stars for him. But... If you've been on other food tours (we've been on many) you may be disappointed like we were. Stop 1 - tomato pie. This is a small slice of pizza without cheese or toppings. OK but kinda bland. Stop 2 - standing on the sidewalk to get handed a pretzel. It was fine, but no different from one you'd get in a mall. In fact, this place has hundreds of locations so nothing unique here. Stop 3 - Cheesesteak. It was good and came with fries. But again, not really any better than ones I've had at many other restaurants. Stop 4&5 - A missed opportunity to really see the Reading Terminal Market. We walked though but didn't really get to see any of the vendors. We stopped on the sidewalk outside and were handed a chocolate chip cookie and a whoppie pie which was good. But we didn't even see where they came from. We spent 10 minutes inside Macy's. Cool building for sure, but not food. We stood for 5 minutes outside a closed restaurant that was a bank. Heard how wonderful it is inside but had to look through the windows. Not a good stop. 20 people on the tour was way more than any other we've taken and I think limits their ability to really see small food vendors and go inside rather than standing on the sidewalk for 3 of the 5 foods. 3 hours was spent mostly not on food-related things and mostly not inside a restaurant. Maybe call this a Philly tour of a small area with some good but not uncommon food thrown in. Again - Matt was wonderful and helped improve our opinion. But otherwise we thought this was just OK.

Thank you for your honest opinion. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the food overall and other aspects of the tour. COVID has given us some challenges with bringing guests inside every building and we're hoping to continue to improve on this as our buildings and restaurants grow their staffing. Our tour is designed to max out at 18 people and to show some of Philly's highlights and most famously-known foods. We include some non-food-related aspects, but hopefully that didn't take away from the two sit-down dining experiences and a walk through the Reading Terminal Market. Philly has so much to offer and there's always more to explore with our other food tours that we have in other sections of the city.

We had a great tour with Kaitlyn. We enjoyed all of the stops and learning about the history of parts of Philly we would have easily missed. I highly recommend this tour to anyone. We brought our 7 and 10 year olds with us and they had a great time too.

Be aware, this food tour focused more on random, inconsequential history of Philly than it did on food. Definitely advertised incorrectly. If you’d like a tour focused on a department store, an old bank, and the face of Quaker Oats, with a bit of food sprinkled in here and there, this tour is for you. Otherwise you’re better off googling iconic food in Philly and giving yourself a personal food tour. The tour guide was also extremely condescending and treated the three teenagers I was with like they were little children. Overall, a disappointing and uncomfortable experience. But, the food that we DID try was great—hence two stars instead of one.

I'm very sorry that you feel this way about our food tour. We include lots of information about Philadelphia's history, culture, and other stories along with the foods that we provide on our tour, and guests almost always praise the "add on" of these aspects to our food tours. Our tours include lots of stories and information about the foods while they are being eaten, and I'm glad you enjoyed the food overall. As the owner, I spoke with the Tour Guide who ran your tour because I want to ensure that guests of all ages enjoy their experience; her joke about anyone under 18 enjoying the wine tower when they're of age was the only instance she could think of as offensive, but I hope that her intimate conversations with your teenagers about musical theater, schools, and our company were helpful to them. She seemed to think that they got a lot out of that.
