If you have small kiddos with lots of energy, this is a great place to visit! 2-8 are the ideal ages, though we had a 10-year-old with us who enjoyed herself as well.

This is a repeat visit to this museum. A great place to explore and play. On this occasion, the entire Philly area had the same idea though. Give this place time and let your littles really experience the awesomeness there is.

I agree, age 9 is mostly too old for this, they tended to take over some activities from younger kids. Try the Franklin Institute instead.

I think you could certainly bring in smoe food in the cafe, and there are other areas with tables. They are not set up for a family picnic but some food or drink items, sure.
