This is a nice zoo, a fun way to spend the day. We especially enjoy the rental swan boats, the indoor lorikeet aviary (you can feed the lories nectar for a small price) and the otters (the otters here are extremely entertaining almost always are sliding down their little water slide and swimming around. When we visited last there were... More

We had a great time during our visit and the balloon ride outside was a bonus for our son. The gorilla and monkeys were impressive an the rhino was very entertaining. The OLD tortoise was older than all of our ages combined. A great family outing for us.

On a recent unusually warmer winter morning trip with my toddler we had the best time roaming the zoo. Not very crowded aside from other young families and a school trip here and there, most exhibits were open despite the month and animals out and about. Staff has always been friendly and helpful.

This zoo used to be depressing when i was growing up but it has been transformed into a really good zoo. On a nice day, it is a great place to walk around and enjoy the animals. The new parking garage has been a huge improvement!

Oldest zoo in the country, but always updating to give the animals as much space on 25 acres. Try to go on off hours as it is very popular with the schools.

This is a great place to visit in Philly. There are a variety of animals and nice exhibits. We went on a rainy, cold day and it was empty for a change, so it was nice to talk to the staff.

Whenever the opportunity presents itself, I visit zoos. I am of the opinion that pretty soon we are only going to be able to see certain species within zoos, and it's important that they are carefully managed and maintained, that the animals have as natural an environment as possible. So, when I had a chance to see America's oldest zoo,... More

We got there about 10:00 in the morning and the zoo was empty. We got numerous great views of the animals there were still there / out. Many of the animals were moving around too (including the sloth). The entire zoo was clean and had employees everywhere caring for the animals and tending to the visitors. We stayed about 2-hours... I visited on a weekday in December shortly before Christmas. What this meant is the zoo was basically empty, there was only a couple of dozen people there - perfect if you want to avoid hoards of families and other tourists. The Zoo is pretty unique with the big cats and monkeys having access to a skywalk, where they are... More
