Yup, that is why we were there. My nephew & his bride chose this site as a wedding reception venue. The mansion house is almost fully restored and makes a very nice site for a cocktail hour. A nearby tent, erected for the occasion, served as home for the buffet dinner & dancing. The bride had arranged everything to perfection... More

With the help of the Woodlands staff, I was able to locate my grandmother's grave In January. It was an important personal moment. This time we came in the poring rain but were able to stop at plant some flowers beside her marker. Everyone has always been endless helpful and I feel secure that my grandmother is in the correct... When you drive by here, you'd miss it. I've been to this part of the city many times and passed by this brick wall corner. But my friend had talked about this place and so we went it. We drove up the long driveway, past the graves and at first my thoughts were well this isn't even the best graveyard... More

While staying in University City (Western Philadelphia), we walked right by the tree lined Woodlands Cemetery on our way to the University of Pennsylvania. During the day it's filled with visitors, including runners, who enjoy its pastoral setting. At night, it becomes a gated community for its permanent residents!

The Woodlands is an excellent spot for a morning walk, a noontime break, or an early evening stroll (though you probably don't want to stay after dark!) Cherry, apple, dogwood, rhododendron, and azalea are among the flowering trees and bushes you can enjoy, along with trails through memorials old and new. There is also an active educational program and a... More

Not everyone thinks of cemeteries as places to tour, but think outside the box! The Woodlands grounds offer 50+ acres of trees, many very old, historic and even rare, and the Woodlands Mansion dates to the 1700s. The famous and non alike are buried there, some in handsome, elegant mausoleums, some beneath elaborate obelisks, some marked by simple headstones. The... More

This is one of my favorite places to go in University City. The Woodlands has tremendous historic value as it was William Hamilton's estate which originally covered over 600 acres. The Current property, which is on 54 acres, has many species of trees, birds and is a lovely place to walk in any season. Many famous people are buried here... More
