Long meandering trails along stream. Tree shaded and pleasant hiking trails. Best to enter from northern entrances as there is little parking available on southern end.

This isn't the country, but for a city park it offers a place of some serenity. There is nice restaurant within the park as well as extensive connection to the entire Fairmont Park system.

Assuming it's a nice day, go for a walk or rent a bike, but spend some time on Forbidden Drive. When you are in the middle of the park, along the Wissahickon, it is hard to believe you are in the middle of a huge...More

An incredible walking, running or biking path in the city. You can take a run along a beautiful creek and grab some fresh air. Must see if visiting.

If you're in town and have a little extra time for an outdoor activity, consider going out to "valley green". It's part of Philadelphia's huge inner-city park system. You can bike there from downtown (but it's a long bike ride!) There is not much to...More

My husband and I love love love going to this park. It's in the city but you feel so secluded and private while taking long walks/runs/hikes without worrying about being in a crowded place.

As a member of a (German Baptist) Brethren fellowship, this park has historical significance for me. There is a marker along the Wissahickon Creek designating the location for the first (German Baptist) Brethren baptisms in the United States. They took place on December 25, 1723....More

I was born in the city and have been visiting the park since my mother took me when i was a kid in the 60's...it's even nicer now since the friends of the Wissahickon have been caring for it.

This park is sort of out of the way in Northwest Philly, but it’s definitely worth it if you’re interested in nature and greenery. I also took very nice photos with my camera here. It does not even feel like you’re in the city of...More
