walking past and stopped in
Dec 2015 • Family
We were walking up Chestnut and we noticed this and stopped in. The show was interesting and you always learn something new. I thought it was a little expensive for the duration of the experience. The staff was lovely and helpful. Great gift shop as well.

Independence Hall After Dark
Sep 2015
What a great treat! A private tour of Independence Hall - it made you feel like you were back in 1776. A colonial dinner at City Tavern -- Michael was a great tour guide! What fun!!

Tippler's Tour Colonial Pub Crawl
Oct 2014 • Friends
On Saturday afternoon (10/11/20140, 'Trooper Robert Hale" hosted the "Tippler's Tour Colonial Pub Crawl" for my daughter's 30th birthday with her friends and family. What a character and what an enjoyable time our diverse group of adults had, We all shared in the fun, enjoyment and historic information provided my our tour guide. Four (4) locations, all which we had never visited, were experienced. The "Trooper" our guide, was extremely knowledgeable of the "Revolutionary Era". No one on the tour had any expectation of the tour, so there was literally a surprise around every corner. This outing exceeded any and all expectations and was a memorable time for my daughter and her friends. This tour is highly recommended for an "Adult Outing".

OK 3D video
Sep 2014 • Couples
The price was great ($6), but the video was a little boring and not very well done with the 3D effects, even with the glasses. It was supposed to be a 360 experience and only a few scenes were 360, the rest were a regular large screen. Overall, the video was ok for the money and time (20 minutes), but I guess I was expecting more from the advertising hype.

Wonderful!
We came into the building to get some AC before venturing out to the many amazing sites of Philly. This turned into a sort of home base for us! Staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

My daughter was very keen on dressing up in period costumes and getting our picture taken. My husband reluctantly agreed. I have to say this was truly a highlight of our trip. Sara is a historian who dresses you. This is not playing dress up. We were learning history while we put on layer after layer of clothing. This experience really made the amazing historical site we were visiting truly come to life. We have discussions about what it really must have been like to live during the time. She is 11 and it really solidified her experience and curiosity about the time of the American revolution. Wonderful! Big thanks to Sara and her lovely assistance. We hope to be back to see you soon!

Also we found some wonderful books on history in the gift shop. Great experience!

A fantastic visit thanks to our park service and rangers
May 2014 • Couples
We were new to the historic district in Philly and knew only what was available on the "net". A must first stop is the outstanding visitors center where you receive a super introduction to the district by the park rangers. These folks made our visit even better than we could have asked for. All questions answered promptly and with a smile. The locations we visited were clean, and easy for us senior citizens to get around. My only advise to other senior citizens, if you hope to visit the Liberty Bell, go on line to find a time when there are no school trips planned, otherwise it is a long wait without benches to ease you "aching back" :-) The grave site of Ben Franklin is a must, don't forget to toss a coin on the grave for good luck and a tribute to Ben. His museum is absolutely terrific...one of the best. As you can tell, Philly and the park service deserve high marks for their work for making our visit great.

Philadelphia-Places I have visted
Apr 2014 • Family
Having been born and raised in Philadelphia there are very few of these sites I have not visited several times growing up. Most of these sites are within a few blocks of one another (5th Street and Chestnut Street). So start with Independence Hall, then try the Independence Square Museum, Congress Hall, Old City Hall, the West Wing of Independence Hall, the Benjamin Franklin Museum, the US Mint and National Constitution Center. Philadelphia is a great walking city so bring comfortable shoes and wander through Downtown and Historic Philadelphia. You may also want to visit the Friends Meeting House on Arch Street at 4th, the Gloria Dei (Old Swedes) Church near the Delaware Riverfront or Edgar Allan Poe Museum near 7th and Spring Garden. I believe all of these sites have webpages with hours of operation and entrance fees.
