Yes, there is ice in the bottom of this caldera and apparently it stays cold enough for it to remain frozen year around. Personally, I hate to see Mother Nature's offerings fenced-off and become a money-maker. Good little hike down to see the ice cave.

The was well worth the side trip. The ice cave was worth it all by it self. The volcano was an added delight.
