Truly a feast for the eyes. Terrain changes were delightful. Be sure to wear sturdy hiking shoes as you walk on ciders, volcano rocks, up and down, but trail is easy, well maintained and marked.

Easy walk to caves - easy to carry gear needed to enter caves. Nice easy walk to cinder cone where you have excellent views of the area. No one on trail but us - nice.

We did not hike the full trails, but we did walk part of them to see what was around. There was a ranger there when we were there and she gave us lots of information on the area and even took our picture for us,...More

We had read reviews which suggested that this was an easily doable trail with interesting sites along the way. We strongly differ! Although we found the beginning sites (up to the Bat Cave) to be worth the effort of traversing the 7/10 mile trail, we...More

The ground was flat and an easy walk and there were some intersting sites on this area of El papais which erupted 115,000 years ago. There is a great deal of lava activity and old basalt rock, a few caves and pretty country. Not the best...More

Walk back in time on this trail to see collapsed lava tubes and its cinder cone. A nice 3.8 mile loop takes you to where rivers of lava over 115,000 years ago created the lava trenches and tubes. It's pretty exposed so bring plenty of...More

We were in the area and saw the sign for the trail. The trail is very flat except for the short climb to the scenic overlook. Very cool sites on the trail including caves, sinkholes, lava trenches, and the volcano overlook.
