We were shocked to find Eleanor’s cottage so warm and friendly and so very ordinary for such an extraordinary lady and world leader. Reminded us of the kind of home we grew up in! Nothing pretentious or snooty about this place! And such stories and...More

We were advised at the FDR Library that if we had to choose between Val-Kill and Top Cottage, we should visit Val-Kill. I am glad that we did. I learned so much about Eleanor Roosevelt that I didn't already know, particularly about her work bringing...More

This was one of the highlights of our visit to Hyde Park. We learned so much about Eleanor and all the good she did. And such a low key home for such a rich lady. The visit was excellent

While in Hyde Park earlier this month, I had the opportunity to visit Val-Kill - both the cottage of that name and the Stone Cottage are located here. Having toured FDR's home - and there viewed Eleanor's sleeping quarters - I definitely understood why she...More

This was the third site we visited on our tour of the area. Its simplicity and homeliness was refreshing after the pomp and formality of the other houses. The guide was excellent and provided all the information needed to get an understanding of the woman...More

When open, you need to reserve early that day at the Center. Very worthwhile trip and one not to miss. Gives new insight into a woman oft-misunderstood. Probably the early and original independent woman.
