The walk is very scenic and passes many historic places. I also saw many Sea Lions on the walk. DON'T walk it at night. The homeless were all along the walk and some parts of the walk are sketchy to pass thru.

We visited Astoria asked about the river walk. Turns out the river walk extends quite a ways in both directions. We happened to be over by the Coast Guard / Museum when we got on. Heading West towards the Pacific has the better view. You'll see shops and eateries and a few other things. We went just past the big... More

My wife and I stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites, and we walked north and then south of the hotel just a little ways to the Rogue Distillery & Public House. Just north of our hotel was a pier full of barking sea lions. There were hundreds of them on this dock, well worth the short walk on the... More

Aren't walks and trails great???!!! Walk along the Columbia river for a few miles and see where the piers and wharfs were, and see how this tough town has scrapped back from the big "canning" days. Check out the cargo ships cueing up to go inland for containers, grain, timber products, etc. It ain't New Orleans, but it's a busy... More

We were on a cruise there for 1 day. Knowing nothing about Astoria we were thrilled with the delightfully quaint town. Their extremely well organised shuttle service and local greeters was second to none. Right from docking and seeing the extremely long bridge connecting Astoria to Washington day was a delight. Walking very easy. Locals friendly. Quirky quaint shops. Ride... More

Nice wide paved path from one end of town to the other right along the river. Pass boats, canneries, house boats, tugs. Easy flat walk. Plenty of room to let bikes pass

I love this area of Astoria! We played around and did a photo shoot on the walk at sunset. Gorgeous views of the bridge and of the bay. Hearing the seals and seeing them near Buoy Brewery was a huge plus!

We really enjoyed the walk. The trolley was not in service so we missed out on that experience. The sea lions were amazing to see! So many of them sunning on the docks! And noisy! We prairie folk never get to see them! Information signs about the ships and cannery enhance the walk.

I come to Astoria often and the riverwalk area is always a must-stop for me. There is a parking lot at the western end, just past downtown. Parking is easily available in downtown Astoria too. At the western end, there is a 2 story viewing platform that has sweeping views of the Columbia River and the bridge. This is the... More
