Located approx. three miles from Ft. Larned, this museum is very good place to stop and begin your Trail experience. Walk through the various rooms and then step outside to view a sod house, train station and other buildings from the pioneer period.

When Fort Larned was restored, understand local collections went to this museum, financed by local residents. Small collection, but they do an excellent job with an annual budget of only $100k (I'm a past board member of a private regional museum in the NE with an annual budget of $5 million). Well worth an hour or so. Charge only $6... More

we just visited this museum on our way to western Kansas. we stopped and went inside, there are some renovations going on, so I believe some of the exhibits were not on display. the outside is interesting and well maintained. would definitely stop if you happen to drive by.

Very nice museum about life along the Santa Fe trail. Good quality exhibits inside and out. There was more than we expected after reading some of the other reviews here. I guess it is the sort of thing we love as we are western history buffs.

I have been to several events here and day trips. I like to take my kids here to explore the old sod house, church, train depo, and the museums. So much from the past is here. I loooove it!

What a wonderful museum of the early west! A variety of buildings and exhibits. My husband enjoyed the railroad display and the old cars and farm machinery. The staff were very helpful and exceptionally pleasant. Well worth the time!

Stopped in while doing a bike ride. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The exhibits give a good overall look at life on the prairie. Wish I had more time to look at the other buildings. Admission price was inexpensive for the quality of the exhibits.
